Ray Posted September 3, 2017 Report Posted September 3, 2017 Hi Guys a little help needed here, last night, a good friend of mine gave me his Motorbike, he has owned the bike since new, its a 1984 Suzuki GS125, and it hasn't been on the road for just over 30 years, but 2 years ago, it had its first MOT, that I put on it, as I store it, but still it never got taxed and insured, now in that 30 years he has moved several times and long lost the log book, so I have to apply for a V5C, that's easy in itself, in the fact its just fill out a form V62, but the question I cant find an answer to is, what is the taxation class of the bike, if it was a car, the info is there, but a bike its a tad confusing not having had a bike myself for around the same sort of time, I'm not up with the tax classes on a bike does anyone have a similar sized machine that they could advise me of the taxation class please
colr6 Posted September 3, 2017 Report Posted September 3, 2017 Had a word with mate who's into scooters, importing and registering. He lists his 125s as motorcycles. Had a look on my logbooks but there seems to be no common thing a, some are listed as bicycles even at 250cc some are m/ cycles and some historic vehicles. And that's the DVLA sorting that out so obviously they class them willy nilly. It used be a bicycle was a moped which was basically a bicycle that was power assisted any thing over that was classed as a m/ cycle. Will see what else I can find out for you Ray. 1
colr6 Posted September 3, 2017 Report Posted September 3, 2017 Just had a look on GOV. Web site and it states a motorcycle is a motorbicycle or motorcycle under 450kg unladen. So anything over that must be fooking heavy motorcycle .....LOL.....NOT to be placed on ones foot!! From that I would say your taxation class is motorcycle.
Ray Posted September 3, 2017 Author Report Posted September 3, 2017 cheers Colin I will get form in the post
