Jiffer Posted November 27, 2017 Report Posted November 27, 2017 Which old ford that you've owned and then got rid of do you miss the most, and still wish you had hidden away? Pics and Vids. For me it was my pre airflow mk1 (Kermit), lack of space dictated it had to go, it was ugly to look at with patches of primer and bits dropped off but with a nicely warmed pinto on 48s and on the rare days when it behaved itself it was awesome and cooler the Robert Palmer in a fridge,
deltamal Posted November 27, 2017 Report Posted November 27, 2017 No pics, but it would be my 1957 Mk2 Zephyr, I got engaged and 'sensible' sold it and bought a more economical Morris 1100, well we learn by our mistakes, with the money spent on constant repairs it would have covered the extra petrol cost........
smudger666 Posted November 28, 2017 Report Posted November 28, 2017 My old escort...wish I still had this...Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 1
smudger666 Posted November 28, 2017 Report Posted November 28, 2017 2 litre pinto with 2 bottle 3 stage nitrous. Ran high 11 second quarters. Sigh.....Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

iandq Posted November 30, 2017 Report Posted November 30, 2017 I had a blue pre aeroflow mk1 Cortina in the 80's 526fxt, bought it off ron harris, and sold it back to him later. I spent years trying to find it, all I knew was it's now red and 2 litre, and then one evening as if by magic I found a vid of it on youtube doing a run at north weald !. I've still got no idea who owns it but nice to see it again after all these years.
ekjim Posted December 1, 2017 Report Posted December 1, 2017 Did the MK1 Escort used to be the Trevor Langfield car , that ran a rover v8 with the headers sticking out the bonnet ? do you have any more pics and spec on the car when you ran it with the pinto ?
smudger666 Posted December 1, 2017 Report Posted December 1, 2017 No its not the same car. But our car did spend some time at Trevor's in the early 90s. And Trevor built and fitted the nitrous to our car free of charge as a sponsor deal.Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
ekjim Posted December 2, 2017 Report Posted December 2, 2017 That looks really good Smudger , was that at York ? That car would be right up here with OSFDC now , what back axle and trans did you use ?
smudger666 Posted December 2, 2017 Report Posted December 2, 2017 Yes all the above pics were at York... But the car was based in Bexleyheath Kent. The axle was an 8 inch ford. (Not 9 inch that a lot of drag cars use) with I think 4.9 cwp And various gearboxes including borg warner Sierra cosworth box.. T5 I think. Also tried a powerglide auto box..Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
smudger666 Posted December 2, 2017 Report Posted December 2, 2017 Do you know where it is now ? No...I have tried to find it without success! After we sold it, it was on the cover of car conversion magazine in the mid 90s when they drag raced it head to head with rally cars and an f1 car... Which it won. But nothing since then....Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
