The way the governments, the banks, and the greedy developers are playing the game, metropolitan areas in Australia, especially in Sydney, Melbourne and Brisbane, are some of the most expensive to buy and maintain (ie taxes) in the world.

Many people acknowledge the younger generations will never be able to afford a home because of the rapidly increasing property prices.

Since the early 1990's wages and incomes have been continually falling in real terms relative to continual increases in the cost of living.  Increases in wages are non existent.

Rural areas and farm land is much cheaper but that is because the governments and large powerful companies collude to put farmers out of business in preference for cheap imported food from third world nations which is then sold to the public at Australian prices, so as to increase their own profits, and power, over the Australian people.

Governments offer no support to resolve the problem, only a lip service.

Goverments create problems for the solutions that they have ready lying arround , they say cash money is the cause of highjacks in busses so there came the camera`s , the money is banned out of the busses but the cameras are staying ,,, terrostists/isis threats so let hang up more cameras... it`s all about total control over the people.

I know that you would think with the vast amounts of space that it seems logical  housing would be affordable here. Unfortunately the opposite is true. With an overly fast increasing population with not enough housing and infrastructure available to support that growth, the dream of owning your own home in Australia is now a thing of the past for most. With a new generation of cashed up Chinese investors wanting to hide their money, Australian real estate is the pot of choice. Then they are often left empty and families can no longer find their own home having been outbid by foreign investors at every turn. The joke often coined is that its in fact cheaper to buy a castle in France than it is to buy a 2 bedroom asbestos board shack in the outer suburbs of Sydney. Sydney has the second highest housing prices of any city in the world with Tokyo being number one. They have to get inter-generational loans to purchase an apartment there. Its only a matter of time before housing loans span two lifetimes here as well. Your Kids never leave home because they simply have nowhere else they can afford to go. We have slightly cheaper petrol than you guys but I dont think its worth the trade off if you cant afford a place to park your car. Most likely you will be sleeping in it.
