Are they any good?

Just had a "RED MIST" moment on ebay and won a pair of twin 40s.

Wont be starting on the engine till next year so probably should have left em for someone else to buy lol.

Are they any good or should i wait a while and sell em on and wait for a pair of webbers?

Its been said they were better than the equivalent period Webers (David Vizard of Pinto fame for one). There are just not as many Dellorto specialists out there when it comes time to rejet and stuff. But given many Alfas used them I dont think it will be too much of a problem.

I had a brand new set in boxes once that I traded for retrimming the Twincams seats lol

Nothing wrong with dellortos, when I took my Anglebox for a RR the tuner preferred them as he could fine tune them more than webers. They are one of those clicky sort of items, webers supposed to be the best but the people in the know disagree. Jets are not a problem as they can be drilled to suit. Chokes are not as plentiful but availiable.

I've always favoured Dellorto's. They are nice, simple and easy to work with. Lots of new spares are still available,  jets, chokes, stacks or rebuild kits. Used parts are not that easy these days, parts for Weber's are more common. I use Dellorto twin 40s on my pinto and they run very well.

Be aware of the condition of the towers that holds the air screws, they are a weak point. If the air screw is seized, that might be difficult to repair or even worse. if a bad repair has been done
