Attempted Garage Break In

Neighbour just knocked on the door and informed me someone has - what looks like to me - purposely driven into my garage door ! Its smashed the door, displaced the up and over frame and demolished the brickwork pier. Thank god I had a bloody good padlock and bolt on the door and frame as i'm sure the door would have opened. Probably happened within a couple of hours between 12 and 15.00 this afternoon - police informed and they are about as interested as smelling dog s**t. Insurance a bit more proactive and have builder / door supplier on the case, but I can't open the door as if I have to force it it could cause more damage, I might not get door closed again - obvious security risk - and potential wall collapse if kids start fiddling! God knows what the bike is like cos it was close to the door when closed - but I won't find out till someone else takes responsibility for opening, closing and making it secure again! Neighbour can't open his door so that likely f**ked as well! Worry is - would they be back, I can't park a car in front of it 24/7 as we have a life, luckily I can get away with not needing my bike for transport but still, how long is it gonna take - anyone care to take bets LOL!

Is the garage on the side of your house?

Any details on the offending vehicle?

Could it be a genuine accident? 

Seems wierd to do damage like that in broad daylight if it was a 'job'.

Maybe fit some sort of ground anchor/ chain in your garage that can attach to the axle?

Maybe be a pita to use but may help you keep your car if its thieving pikey c@#ts after all.

Surely you wouldn’t drive into the brick wall just the door if it was a JOB? 

No cameras nearby?

Its never good to drive away from an accident whatever is damaged. Its probably illegal to do so.

But if it was a drink,drug uninsured (take your pick) driver or even someone who didnt want a claim against their insurance, they may have just decided to disappear.

By any chance was it just some idiot larking about and lost control and clipped the pillar? A ram raider would go for the door rather than the brickwork one would think and by the look of it one more ram and they would be in so further suggesting it was a hit and run?
