The splines do have a tendency to cross and round off.

They looked close at first but they dont appear to have any splines on the inside.

Although looking closer they don't seem to be splined? How'd they stay on or turn lol?

They must have or they wouldn't actually work would they?

They may just tension down when you screw the arm down, it probably loosened alot though and why they probably evolved to a splined type in the Escort.
