Yes, harnesses are anchored underneath the rear seat. Car was stripped out as a Clubman spec rally car when I originally bought it, but I've slowly been toning it down back to a more standard road car over the years.

I had another set of headreasts made up for the seats to give me a bit of choice, but I tend to stick with the fishnets.

Great work mate! Is it hard to fit the rear bench? If I were to buy one does it need any brackets etc to fit it in?
I love your seats! They are so expensive to buy! I was looking at some rs turbo recaros then getting them leathered with orange stiching to match my roll cage 😬

do you have any parts at all you are selling? Interior stuff etc

Rear bench is simple to fit and doesn't need any additional brackets.  I have a metal firewall behind my rear seats, but originally this would be some type of cardboard effort.

I would recommend using Dodo Matt under the seat base and rear, as this made a big difference in the noise level.    I also bought a new rear shelf from GS Escorts and put Dodo Matt under there too.  Totally recommend the rear shelf, as it's much better quality than the original.

Something you need to consider is the fact that you have a cage fitted, so this will impact on your seat.  I would look at getting an old tatty one if you intend recovering it and cut it to fit around where your cage is fitted first off.

I think RS Turbo seats will fit OK and can be trimmed to a similar pattern/stitch close to original style if that's what you want.  Would also be quite comfortable too.

Don't have any interior bits to sell, sorry.  Only thing I really have that I might sell off are my 13" Minilights, but these would be a pain to post and would really be looking for a local pick up.

You have been so helpful to me since joining here and would like to say thankyou!
Here’s a pic of the rear where my cage is, see if you think the seat would need cutting

What is dodo Matt? If I was to have a floor carpet put in again would you dodo the whole floor of the car?

I came across a lovely set of fishnet recaros but wow they want 2k for them and they aren’t pristine either, is this a normal price for them?

Appreciate I have a MK1, but my rear cage is similar to yours, and my seat seats fit in ok. So I would guess a rear seat should fit in OK.

That interior looks spotless, fair play.

I think you'll be able to drop a rear seat straight in there with no cutting.

Dodo Matt is used for sound deadening and anti vibration. It is really effective, but also adds weight. However, I'm not going racing, so not too bothered. This can also be very effective under a carpet too in cutting down noise and heat from an exhast.

Thanks!
so did you dodo your whole floor before carpet?
did you then put like an underlay over that before the final carpet?
I really am debating putting a nice retro looking interior in now and getting rid of the buckets

only problem is it’s more ££££😂

endless pit!

I've done under the rear shelf, firewall, rear seats, inner panels beside rear seat and rear footwells. I ran out of Dodo then 😂

I did fit some carpet felt over the Dodo under the rear seats too, but only because I had it.

I do intend to do under the front seats and front footwells at some point.

I also recently put one square of it on the centre underside of my bonnet, as it vibrated on tick over. This cut a lot of the vibration down and its now more pleasant when sat at idle.

Some people use a similar product called Dynomat, but I'm more familiar with Dodo, as I've also used it for converting vans for chucking my pushbike in.

Thanks mate! I will look into getting some so I can actually have a conversation in the car whilst driving 😂

does the carpet get stuck to the dodo with some type of adhesive spray?

No.  The Dodo Matt has a peel off backing and each sheet is a little bit bigger than the size of an A4 sheet of paper. This side sticks to your chosen panel. The side that faces the carpet is a honey combed shiny foil.  Your carpet would then just sit on top of it as normal.  It's really easy to apply.

Have a look on YouTube for people doing van conversions with it.

Type Dodo Matt into Ebay and look for The Sound Deadening Shop as a seller.

Nice one  thankyou!
What panels did you find crushed sound the most when you applied the Mat?

like I don’t know wether to just do the whole floor and leave the door cards

originally did they just have carpet on its own?

Definitely the rear floor under the seat and rear firewall made the car quieter, above the axle/diff area.  1 pad under my bonnet was also very noticeable.  I think the WCXM is causing the vibration in the bonnet area.

Any large panel such as behind door panels will vibrate, so really 1 square behind each is enough.  You'll notice a big difference on a panel that you rap your knuckles on when it's fitted, compared to not fitted.

I would also look at doing all 4 footwell areas and up at the front bulkhead where the pedals and passenger feet would be.  I plan on doing these areas and also 1 pad inside my front doors.

I had a 1600 Sport when I was a teen and that had very minimal underlay under the main carpet.  A friend of mine crashed his 1.6 Ghia, so I ended up scabbing a load of bits off his car.  I wanted his carpet and when we pulled it out, his Ghia had a lot more soundproofing/underlay than mine. It was basically covering the whole floor area and again made a big difference when I fitted it to my Sport.

I investigated this when I had all the interior out ie Dynamat, Dynaliner etc. and although having rave reviews and being used on just about every custom car build - the price put me off,   I am soooo cheap LOL! But I came up with something that may be as good (we shall see), and that is sticky back roofing flashing. Its a bitumenous polymer with a grey surface finish and comes in rolls - 10m I think and various widths, I picked the widest which was 400mm and covered the entire floor, tunnel, up the cills, big patches over the rear firewall and up under the dash. Then laid new carpet underlay and a good original RS2000 carpet over the top. I've yet to find out if its any good but can't be worse than the pattern cheapy carpet over tin floor that was there when I bought the car LOL! It was like this . . . . https://www.roofingsuperstore.co.uk/product/black-jack-flashing-trade-300mm-x-10m.html

The Dodo Matt has something very similar on the sticky side, so I reckon what you've done will work really well and make a big difference. 👍

When do you guestimate your car would be finished, to give it a try?

LOL! Well I drove it home in 2013 and it hasn't seen the road since Opps! Zetec with efi upgrade, refurb'd T9, refurb'd rear end, new brakes all round, re-wired front to back and new / revamped interior . . . . . . so hardly anything to go wrong LOL! Got some electrical niggles and then its good to go - so give me a couple of years !:dope:

Thread resurrection:

Missus said that £88 came out of our bank account yesterday, so looked into it and there was a renewal email in my spam folder from Performance Direct. That came around quick.

Checked the documents and they've valued my car at £20k again this year. Just phoned them up to discuss and set it at £35k again.  "Yes, no problem. We'll send you a form that you need to attach the pictures to".

You'd think that they would roll it over from last year's valuation, rather than do this every year. Must be a reason behind it, I suppose.

Think I'll have to check my battery trickle today and put my steering wheel back on to give it a little run up the Moor this weekend while we still have the weather. Done about 20 miles this year, so will have to get a bit more on it 😁

@katana, done your wiring yet? 😂

Ha Ha - that was a bit out of the blue! And yes, all the wiring is done and I have a working car with a running engine - not running brilliantly, but running nonetheless! The new biased brake set up is a bit iffy but I did take it for a spin up the road last week and apart from it stalling about 35 times and having to remember to pump the brake pedal A LOT! I'd forgotten what its like to drive an 'old' car - tractor like suspension, excellent all round visibility, visceral feeling and my god - the steering ! ! !  HD 2.4 turn rack with no power assistance - crazy heavy but to be fair it does need tracking check and was only 10-15mph . . . . . . . . but I love it! Presently dealing with the issue of finding a mapper local enough that it doesn't bankrupt me transporting it there as obviously not road legal yet! So the story continues!

Haha, good news 😁

Bias brake setup can be a pain.

I used an odd method for doing mine, but it seems to be fairly OK now.

I set my bias bar roughly in the middle, so both cylinders operated at the same start point.

Had car off the floor on axle stands.

I then used my torque wrench (forget the setting) to get a feel for the brake effort at the wheels. I then adjusted my bias bar so that the torque wrench was clicking off on the front while the rears were still free.

When I was happy, I locked the bias off and disconnected the cable adjustor.

Just to get a decent pedal would be a nice first step, then I can worry about Front / Back effectiveness LOL!

Ah rite. I think I used a Mitty vac on mine and suck bled them, rather than pumped them, as there was something weird going on.
