Mk 1 Mark Posted March 8, 2007 Report Posted March 8, 2007 Should it be a day off, As us Irish have st Patricks day of... If so you can vote here http://www.stgeorgesday.com/voting.asp
Slik 50 Posted March 8, 2007 Report Posted March 8, 2007 TBH I dont think its all that relivant as I honestly feel that this country has completely lost its sense of Patriotism and pride! You look at Ireland when they celebrate St. Paddys day. When do you ever see that amount of pride shown over here? If we shut down streets all around your local town and started waving the St. Goerges cross around just imagine the feild day the PC brigade would have.

Coonts the lot of em, I'll be wearing my rose as usual, if for no other reason than to piss my welsh missus off . We need to take the day of St George back from PC brigade, don't know what its like where everyone else is, but in Manchester more and more people are celebrating it, lots of people where the rose, pubs and other buildings fly the flag. The people who should be flying the flag though, government buildings, town halls etc wont because there afraid they might upset somebody. Makes me so FOOKING ANGRY
Pipster007 Posted March 8, 2007 Report Posted March 8, 2007 I'm Irish and I always celebrate St Georges day too...................Aswell as St Andrews and St David. Any excuse for a pi** up

I too am extremely proud of the UK flag and the freedom it has served to protect on a global scale! Scum sucking left wing councils that won't display it for fear of upsetting the "Afro Chinese lesbians Muslim organisation" really make me angry! Don't these ridiculous quangos get enough from us through absurd lottery grants without our national pride being supressed? A few years ago on St Georges day I swapped the curtains in my Front room for an enormous white ensign I had (cough cough) "aquired" would you believe I had a copper knock on my door to tell me there had been a complaint and could I please take it down?! Admittedly he looked a little embarrassed so when I asked him if I had to remove it, he gladly said "No, but I have to be seen to have acted on the complaint"
105Nick Posted March 8, 2007 Report Posted March 8, 2007 Yeah, well you can celebrate St Patricks day cos you'r in a free country, Britain it seems you're allowed to celebrate your national identity and be patriotic as long as youre from another country. For god's sake Chinese are allowed to celebrate their new year, hindus muslims and sihks, which is great to see someone trying to retain their identidy, but if you're genuinely British and say that out loud and that your proud all of a sudden you're a racist, supressionist, member of the britsih national party, pro-slavery, imperialist and founding member of the klu klux klan! All this PC stuff is driving me mental. Why is it that anywhere else in the world if you move there then you have to daapt and make an effort to respect their culture and customs while here they can move in and push it aside. My girlfriend is half chinese/malaysian & half irish, so I'm not particularly bothered by race, but I do ask that they should respect our national heritage. For some reason they've taken all the words of Martin Luther King and the black civil rights movement in America and used them against the British folk, which in itself is wrong because they were making a point about the klu klux clan being legal in southern states, segregation, uninvestigated murders by policemen themselves, whereas here it seems slightly exagerated that just disagreeing with someone of another culture will get you grilled.
escortmad79 Posted March 8, 2007 Report Posted March 8, 2007 Fook the PC brigade, they can shove their PC bullpoo where the sun don't shine! I bet the 40500 odd that said no are all of the Muslim extremists that we have living in OUR country who preach hatred against the Western world! Don't like it/us, then why are you here? Fook off!!
School boy1 Posted March 8, 2007 Report Posted March 8, 2007 I dont think St. George should even be Englands paintrant (cant spell) saint. As we share it with other countries, he didnt exist, (dragons, come on) and never came here. I think it should be St. Alban, cos he was here and actually existed. And on the issue of pride, we should have more, they celebrate St. Patricks day more than St. Georges in london!.

escortmad79 Posted March 8, 2007 Report Posted March 8, 2007 And on the issue of pride, we should have more, they celebrate St. Patricks day more than St. Georges in london!. That's cos London's full of Irish theme pubs!
