for some reason i think the focus will be looked at as an icon. letsf ace it the escort was common as muck at one point and now they are highly sought after!

i also reckon teh nova will cos all the chav racers will look back and think INNIT M8 I USED 2 AV 1 O DEM!

None of em....nothing...nada....zip. Its all to fancy and engineered, there is no passion put into the development, therefore they won;t be missed.

I think that classic cars now will be classic cars forever. The new stuff is built to be disposed of. Not kept for years.

Of course they will be missed, people who own them give the cars the passion not the computers/robots that designed/built them

I still think the Focus ST is a good looking car and will be around for a while yet. Deffo think it'll be a classic of the future.

I was considering getting myself the TDCi because it looks nice and would be ideal for my job.

but if i remember rightly the escort was built to last 4 years as a cheap car for familys.... :?

good job they lasted longer 8)

True, but they were built with a bit of heart back then, by people, with spanners....and beards. Called Bill.

Now they are produced by soulless robots named R13J12/3 that don;t have beards....or care.

New cars are filled with computers and switches and lights. They are built to meet red tape and NCAP expectations and this makes them soulless.

Not only that, but almost every new car shares a platform of another so 12 cars are basically the same one.

Basically, while i respect my new car for its safety and the peace of mind it gives me, i still wouldn't care if i lost it somehow.

Cars, for me, are about personality and in those terms i rank new cars along side toasters.

i do agree with that chris!

new cars have no soul or pashion. no sweat blood or tears went into them.

they like cardboard boxes! but less exciting!

The majority of modern cars are soulless, characterless boxes on wheels!

I sure as hell will NEVER acknowledge the likes of a Saxo, Nova or Mondeo as a classic car!

Spot on mate though i do think the Escort Cossie is a future classic.Modern cars have no character, they all look the same.Don't you just envy Sam Tyler

So far we have only mentioned cars that are already alightly sought after eg Escort Cossie,Skylines.

Remember that 1.3 Ghias use to be family runarounds and then the RS1800 was a full whack, rally car for the road?

So in comparison :

Mk5 Escort Cosworth=Mk2 Escort RS1800,

Mk5 Escort 1.3=Mk2 Escort 1.3 Ghia

You would be happy to have either of the Mk2s on your drive 30 years after their made, but only happy with the Escort Cosworth 30 years after its made? :?

i completly agree, its a rarity thing.

when i was at a met today there was a bloke proudly standing by his vauxhall victor chatting to passers by. 10 years ago he'd have been laughed at lots cos they thought they were scrap.

one that will surely reach the status of the car to have is any car that rolled out of the TVR factory? the old 350i is the car to have in classic terms, what will the Cebera etc be like in 30yrs?
