Is there a nack, or a trick to replacing the rubber sender unit seal?

Done them before over the years, but can't get enough give in the rubber to get it to bite on this one.

Is there a tool that anyone knows about to apply pressure and turn at the same time?

firstly, if youve bought NOS, on most that are being sold on the likes of ebay at the moment, the rubber is fubar with age

scond you need  C spanner and a little lubrication to do it properly

or if you like the animal method, then a hammer and punch will do it

Yes, it was advertised as NOS

I just can't get it to compress enough to turn to lock, tried soaking in hot water and didn't make any difference

Anyone know of any decent seals for sale?

OK been thinking I could just make one, but anyone got any recommendations for a petrol resilient rubber that could compress enough and work to be cut to size?

Not much coming up on Google.

Probably referred to as u section based on your two options.

It has a 'U' type construction but the outer bit or the bottom of the U is too hard and won't compress

Got hold of a selection of C spanners, and rubber and chain type grip spanners, will grease and try again today.....

Drawn an blank online trying to find any other better seals online

they are tight, they need to be tight, lubricate with a small amount of silicon grease

only tap round if your happy to make a small amount of damage

the seal is mainly solid, the original ford do have inner lips curved between them, but in the main its solid

Bingo!!!!

After heating in boiling water, some grease a chain type C spanner and a second pair of hands, it's in......

Finally

Geez, never remember them being that tough before.

Cheers for the support all 👍🏻👍🏻
