Hello,

I have a lot of the old Ford microfiches (from a closed dealership) but the older versions of those fiches were thrown away when there was an update. Am after some partnumber (not finiscodes) of Type E gearboxes on 70's Fords. In the last version of the Transmission fiche lots of older partnumbers have been deleted. So is there anyone who has an old version of the Transmission microfiche?

Thanks, Leon.

Ok so I have a question related to 2000e gearbox that you parts knowledge people may be able to answer for me.

Some time ago when I was removing my 2000e gearbox with internal remote shift, the Speedo drive cable had rusted itself to the Speedo drive mechanism, when I pulled on it the entire speedo drive mechanism came out with the cable, as this happened I heard something fall off inside the gearbox and roll down the inside of the casing.

I have studied many parts diagrams but I can’t work out what part I heard falling off inside😳

the car has been undergoing major restoration since then but the time is nearing when I will need to fix this potential problem before I fit the gearbox, it would be really helpful if I know what I am looking for before I take the tail shaft off my gearbox.

any assistance on this would be greatly appreciated.

cheers

The 2000E is the 3-rail gearbox, the Type 3 is the single rail version of the 2000E. The Type 2 is the single rail gearbox used on most Mk1/2's , the Type E is the somewhat bigger version for the RS models. Type E has the 1"x23 spline.
