Hi all

Just a quick question as I can't find out any info online.

When fitting one of the long centre consoles into a MK1, was there any fixing or spacer that went in between the screw mounting points and the tunnel?

Photo for example.

Cheers

are you fitting that classic trim one or an original ford one

the ford one has a removable ice scraper, is fixed to the floor using the rear 2 handbrake gator screws, then 2 screws mid way, hidden under the scraper, and one at the front, no spacers underneath, but under the scraper near the handbrake youll find 2 slots, thats for a metal strengthener strap to stop it pulling apart

the classic trim one does not have a removable scraper, and only screws to the tunnel with 3 screws, never fitted one, so dont know what theyre like tbh

Hi Ray

Original Ford one, thanks for the info.

So once the rear ones under the handbrake gaiter are in and lined up, it's just a case of making sure the plastic centre bit is reinforced and then drill down? Gulp ! 🤣

Sadly the ice scraper is missing, but I have seen some repro ones, or might fab something up in the short term

re the missing ice scraper, there were 2 people making them, but the injection moulded ones didnt fit properly, so get hold of Neil Fletcher, hed on FB and an avo club member, he makes them, they were around the £50 each touch

neil has a web site, just google neil fletcher racing

re the metal clip thats missing, theres a member on here that makes them, im sure he will pipe up soon enough
