I would say to make your cam choice from the roads of where and how you will be driving.

Usually when I'm out in my car, which has been once this year with my Wife driving, it doesn't get driven any different to my daily, due to other traffic and speed limits. This is now down to 20mph in many towns here, what with the backward Welsh Assembly.

I ended up going with a mild FR30 and in fairness, it's been spot on for what I need and will still light the wheels up on a private road 😁

I did have a thread on here of building my engine, but can't find the link in my history.

Also factoring my boy racer days are over I really thought do I cut into a brand new head I have to fit stronger valve springs and the likes when I just cruise in the car these days with a standard carby? In the end I just thought if I found a standard new Ford cam in its box then most likely that would be enough. (I have seen a few but with rusty lobes LOL)  However If you are using an older head though (not new in its box like I have) and adding twin 40s then yes I would probably indulge in the FR30. (I actually had a Piper 285 kit once but never used it. It seems a bit rougher in quality compared to similar Kent kits)
