Rick Posted June 18, 2006 Report Posted June 18, 2006 i found another mk1 a few weeks back in some old guys garden. its a complete rotter but for parts its well worth trying to grab. anyhow he was all up for selling it when i first asked 'its been there for 7 years' he said. there was only one problem: 'someone esle asked about it a couple months ago so il ask him if he still wants it first' he said well i thought fair enough il leave him my number and off i went. got a phone call a few days ago; 'o the man said hes not interested anymore but i found another number so im gonna ring him and see if he wants it'.... i offered him a hundred quid there and then, he laughed it off and said no hes gonna ask this other bloke,. what is wrong with the man!!!! he keeps insisting someone else wants it and believe me they dont hes just one of those blokes that cant let go!!!! aghhhhhhhh i could have had it stripped and sold in the time hes been messing me about, any ideas... im still waiting for his phone call again but he seems a bit of a nutter to me his house is in the same state as his car. has anyone else encountered the same bloke???? what is it with these people
tim Posted June 18, 2006 Report Posted June 18, 2006 his car u cant make him sell it, hold on and wait

escortmad79 Posted June 18, 2006 Report Posted June 18, 2006 he seems a bit of a nutter to me his house is in the same state as his car this is the normal story.i know of a few cars about, and when you knock they are mostly nutters They've probably been driven nuts by strangers constantly knocking on the door asking if he wants to sell the Escort
Mexico Posted June 18, 2006 Report Posted June 18, 2006 pmsl, my dad knows this guy who has a rs2000 mk1 escort and a mk2 escort. the mk2 is rottin in a field and it has gotten so bad, there is a hole about the size of a sunroof in the roof (and no it is not the sunroof ) he wnt sell it at all. the mk1 is quite tidy just needs tidyin up but wnt sell it. Although he has promised my dad first refusal. He is very ahndy tho, he is one of these guys who know absolutely everything and can do everything. He loves tractors and old ways of machining. He's a ledgend
Rick Posted June 19, 2006 Author Report Posted June 19, 2006 maybe he was driven mad by people knocking the door its a good theory but it wont stop until he gets rid. i think a lot of people like this get a bit of a kick knowing they have something everyone esle wants... i guess thats just tough luck but its a sin
RedditchJay Posted June 19, 2006 Report Posted June 19, 2006 tell him its worth £20 scrap value but as your such a nice man you'll give him £50 and take it way today as the neighbours have been complaining its an eyesore ? ? ?
Rick Posted June 19, 2006 Author Report Posted June 19, 2006 yeah iv been thinking of sending someone else to do it for me he knows me now
morcheen Posted June 19, 2006 Report Posted June 19, 2006 sometimes the nutters will sell or give the car to a complete stranger (scrapper) rather than give it to someone who actually will use or repair itits happened to me lots of times
Rick Posted June 20, 2006 Author Report Posted June 20, 2006 i know to 4 mk1 2 doors al rotting in gardens and the owners will not part with them even for good money. when i first wanted one i offered a bloke a thousand for this car which is worth about 500 quid max and he still said no. i think they get a kick out of knowing they have something you want
Cookie Posted June 20, 2006 Report Posted June 20, 2006 on the other hand maybe they just like owning what they got and thats where there enjoyment comes from, pointless i know, but so are a lot of pastimes and hobbies. not ideal i grant you and i would also rather see some rotting away escort go to someone who would restore it, but at the end of the day if joe bloggs owns a escort that has been rusting away on his drive for 20 years and thats how he wants it to stay, then fair enough it is his car, he handed over the cash to buy iy, so he decides its fate.........
RedditchJay Posted June 20, 2006 Report Posted June 20, 2006 DID YOU KNOW...... that from March 2007 any old / untaxed / mot'ed cars that are dumped in peoples drives or gardens will be subject to a £2000 fine as classed as "unsightly" and causing a contamination of the ground as the car rusts.................... NOT REALLY............... BUT WORTH A BLAG ? ? ? ?
Rick Posted June 20, 2006 Author Report Posted June 20, 2006 youve just given me a great idea!!!! do you think if i send him a genuine looking council letter saying that the car must be removed soon due to complaints that he will call me and let me have it??? its worth a go i reckon.........
1uk3m4n Posted June 20, 2006 Report Posted June 20, 2006 risky he could panik and dump it or somthing
Guest M.Bird DOHC Posted June 20, 2006 Report Posted June 20, 2006 I reckon no matter how much it annoys you, you should stop hassling the poor bloke before he takes out a restraining order on you! Some people dont understand how keen we all are on old crap! Your just have to deal with m8!
Cookie Posted June 20, 2006 Report Posted June 20, 2006 Some people dont understand how keen we all are on old crap! lol , yip i know that one, our pride and joy classics are in many of friends and familiy members view old junk why don't you get a nice reliable car with power steering and electric windows etc etc. blah blah They just don't understand
escortmad79 Posted June 20, 2006 Report Posted June 20, 2006 You can't force him to sell it, if he doesn't want to sell HIS car then he doesn't want to sell it! Stop harassing the poor guy!
orionmojo Posted June 20, 2006 Report Posted June 20, 2006 stick a 'scrap car collection' on his window, with your number on it, or through his letterbox also, offer 30 quid, but offer it as a 'clean u the street bonus' or something or yeah, leave the guy alone lol you could take your osf round, and show him your into the right company
morcheen Posted June 26, 2006 Report Posted June 26, 2006 you could get done for being a stalker get someone else to knock on the door, and see what reply they get, someone older maybe,or a doris. if that fails offer sexual favours
RedditchJay Posted June 26, 2006 Report Posted June 26, 2006 SEXUAL FAVOURS..... the old fella who has got this MK1 is poss tooo old to be bothered about sexual favours........ and who the hell is that desperate for a MK1............. OK.... NO ONE DARE ANSWER....
