GrahamU Posted March 2 Report Posted March 2 I bought a new square post battery for the RS2, does anyone know where to buy the terminals to put on the cables, mine has had the old terminals removed and the round ones screwed on. Thanks
GrahamU Posted March 2 Author Report Posted March 2 I should probably add, the correct + shaped terminals that the old cars came with
Miniliteman Posted March 2 Report Posted March 2 These are not available from anywhere, at least I haven't found them. Seen people use a used terminal from an old loom and re-crimp that one to a new cable but the crimp isn't strong enough anymore. You can use a universal crimp-on terminal (photo). Screwing a wire onto a terminal is never a good thing, always crimp the wire using a proper tool.
GrahamU Posted March 2 Author Report Posted March 2 Thanks miniliteman I had considered using one from an old cable, if I cant get one new then I have also considered a large terminal like in your photo and filing it into the cross shape Shame no one makes them..... yet
YellowTaxi Posted March 17 Report Posted March 17 I used the ones in the pic above and got some square plastic covers for them. Gave piece of mind too. I once dropped a spanner onto a battery in the car, battery exploded and was badly burnt, also damaged the car. Lesson learnt.
Ray Posted March 21 Report Posted March 21 if your careful you can remove the old one and fit a new wire in and just gently re crimp it, then using a small blow gun heat it up and solder it, soldering old ones that you havnt removed the crimp is also good, as it gets rid of all the green mank within the wire and terminal and makes for a far better connection, ive done this loads of times, trick is not to over heat, soldering irons arent powerful enough though
