I was very lucky in that, the was a police car sat watching the junction

that it happened at. The bloke in the punto decked on for no reason  . I suppose it means someone else is gonna pay for one of my wings, but it still isn't quite how i wanted to spend my monday morning  .

No mate, when i had a bike smash once I made the ambulance wait while they recovered it so I could make sure the did it properly! ppl repair them selves and usually for free (good old NHS) however cars dont :(

Sorry to hear about the accident.

Unfortunately, I've never known of a case of someone hitting the back of someone to go in favour of the driver of the vehicle at the back. So I'd say be prepared to be told it's your fault. I realise you say he braked for no reason and have a policeman as a witness, but I'm sure his insurers will argue knock for knock as a minimum. They will say that you shouldn't have been so close that you couldn't stop, and therefore bear a proportion if not all of the blame.

P.S. What did you mean by "decked on"? I may have misinterpreted that? :?

Sorry to hear your news mate, your not having much luck lately are you what with your mount breaking the other week as well.

Have to agree with Vista though, I would think that will be the first thing they say, "you should have been following at a distance to safely allow you to brake if in emergency"

Hope I'm wrong though

Bit of an arse that, but as said, I can't see the insurance claim going your way, from a legal point of view if he brakes then his lights show and you should be able to stop in the gap you leave yourself, as being in front he could brake for something you can't see or has a puncture etc you should be able to pull up safely regardless? Thats what I was taught.

We were setting off from traffic lights, only doing around 15mph and he decked on (braked heavily  ) in the middle of the junction for no reason other than to be malicious. the cops saw him do it on purpose and square up to me when I got out of my car. They said he's gonna get done for dangerous driving, and i'l be in the clear.

Sorry to hear that. Lucky you had the Police near by and hope they do him.

When some t**t hit the back of my Capper I was phoning around everyone for possible quotes on the day. Went doctors following day when my neck was really killing me.

he could be one of these insurance scammers you heard so much about a few months ago. they sit in the blind spots of busses and wait for them to pul out, or.. in your case brake hard at junctions. if a car costs 300 quid then they can claim 5k in compensation. either way, your very lucky that it was witnessed by the police :)

good luck with the 'rebuild'

Sorry to see you had a bump :( , glad it diddn't do too much damage :) .

I hope you get some money for the new wing, but I'm afraid insurance companies dont always think like we do ie, stopping distances, etc

Hopefully the policeman will pull his weight as he said he would.
