spot on is the one thing door gaps/shuts and wing gaps were not, ford didn't give 2 monkeys what the gaps were like, as long as the doors etc didn't rub, so any shell you see that they are perfect, is definitely not how it was the trouble is, its whats pleasing to the eye, and these days we are used to seeing perfectly created computer designed cars, so we go down the line of thinking that's how all cars should be

the entire wheel, all steel wheels seem to have a black plating from new, its this that I want to find out what type of plating it is, and where I can get it done

its std 1300GT with1 inch lowering springs from Burtons, which I fitted for him, but Nick needs to go to specsavers, as he has it in his head that theres a large gap at the top of the wheel, giving it a 4x4 look, or if you like in take off mode whats not being taken into account is, the std 1300GT had std wings, the 1300E was fitted with RS wings, so the wheel arch is a lot bigger, but it was never fitted with RS suspension to give it a lower stance so what he is basically asking, is what he needs to do to lower the car a lot further, but he dosnt want to loose the ride comfort he has at the moment, tbh I don't know enough about the lowering side of things, so really he needs to find someone to do it for him, but if I'm right, he will need to change the struts, brakes and steering etc for something like capri gear, but that's where someone else needs to help him out personally, I think hes worrying over nothing and I would leave well alone at the -1

height wise it is fine just those wheels don't suit it
-
It looked fine till he stuck those silly titchy Crapri wheels on it lol

standard 1300GT

Can anyone tell me what the process is and where i can get it done that the manufacturers use to plate steel wheels black
-
personally, I think you need to increase your budget, there's no substitute for the correct part, even if something else has to wait a little longer

give escort tec or GS escorts a call, bet they will have used ones on the shelf if not look on flea bay, none singularly at the moment, however if you bought a used manifold with one on, bobs your uncle or put an ad in the wanted section
-
will be the same thread
-
have you noticed how valeting companies and service centres now have notices up for you to remove all air fresheners before dropping the car to them, or they wont work on it, even had the sign in the mot centre I have to take my truck to don't know why, I didn't ask just a tad odd, seen it in loads of places since though

the rectangular hole in the middle of the head is water and it supplies the heater, so don't for gods sake connect the servo to that, and it should come out of the manifold below the servo and crank breather port, the pics I posted are a mk1 twin choke weber set up, I cannot believe looking at net and Haynes manual pics, that the mk1 and 2 differ tbh, but as Colin says, a few pics of your manifold will help, the mex uses a slightly different manifold, but same carb re jetted, ut that uses 2 take offs for vacuum, and the servo is taken from more ports 1&2 the centre manifold thread is also designed for a stud like the exhaust manifold has, not a bolt, and the stud needs cementing in, as its head thread is open to the head water circuit, and failure to cement in, or using a bolt, will result in water leakage, and in worst case scenario it sucks the water into ports 2 & 3, as well as leaking from the stud or bolt head, thread lock does not work, as the heat expansion is too great if your car never had a servo originally and you have added it, this may be why you are missing the Tee piece
-
top left hose is going to the crank case breather, other side of the tee is open ready for hose to the servo see photo below, the distributor vacuum on the carb, just below the carb is the manifold tee, left to the crank case breather, right to the servo
-
on standard mk1 OHV, the inlet manifold has a standard open tee piece, this is just above the water (heater supply) elbow, one side supplies the servo and the other the crank case breather non return valve, on the mexico variant the servo and the crank case breather valve are taken from separate ports of the manifold (different manifold) however it is still the same part (chamber) supplying the vacuum, the distributor vacuum is taken from the carburettor not the manifold cant imagine the mk2 being much different

Nick, the 1300 sport is the rarest of the Mk1 variety, the suspension set up will be a closely guarded secret, however I do know Sean tentively had it up for sale a while ago, and any new owner would then become privy to is spec I'm sure if you made him a good offer of say a starting bid of around £45,000.00, that would get Seans heart beating again and you could probably buy it for around £48,000.00, that way you would be sure to know the exact suspension set up -
1) sellers asking price is twice that of a Magnum 2) magnum panel is black, genuine ford ones were mainly brown 3) a well stored set of ford ones will still have the ford stickers on them once in your hand, compare a magnum to original ford on the car, the headlight area is wrong shape, holes for the badges incorrectly spaced and the main swage line height is about 1mm out experience on fit with 2 cars, the magnum actually fit better on offer up believe it or not, but swage line and headlight area was too far out for me I have no experience of expressed panels to compare against though

And thats for rusty old junk Nick makes the NOS look cheap
-
they are not mex looms, so no you don't want them Stu
-
if your doing a resto like my purple one, then worth every penny, if you aren't looking for the extra mile, go magnum, the magnum wings actually fit better with less fettling than the genuine ford ones, however, like all pattern never perfect, and if you look carefully you will see are a different shape round where the grill fits, the badge holes are incorrectly spaces, and the swage line slightly off height

this is the bracket that was on it, I cant find anything on the net about it or see anything with it fitted, and part no. references a mk2 Cortina and theres also a cast adjusting bracket to go with it
-
they are totally different RP, that's a 2 piece one with rubber mounts, but still no adjuster arm either
-
tbh, I really cant believe how hard they are to find, I was expecting to find loads out there, but every turn there wasn't anything the one off the car, to me dosnt seem right or its original, even tho the low mileage, its a very big heavy and bulky cast thing, with a no. on it that starts 3036E, which points to MK2 cortina
