  1. Unfortunately I wont be back with the car at home until 25th Feb. Happy to take a pic for you then.
  2. My car has. 4 speed in it. And when it is in 2nd if you glanced at it you would think it was in neutral. It was in the car when I bought it and it isn't perfect but I don't hate it and it is a good place to put the stereo. I have a 1300gt console sitting around and might change it out down the track if I find a better way to mount the head unit.
  3. Yeah they fit. Sort of. Shifter doesn't quite line up. EDIT: Oh and you will need to drill a couple of holes in the tunnel and mount brackets to attach it. Not sure if you count that as a "Mod" Nick
  4. Spent some time on the Escort today. Yesterday I got a pulled a glovebox from a car someone was wrecking. Today I fitted that in my car to replace the under dash tray. Pulled off the front and rear bumpers and grille and painted them semi-gloss black. I wasnt a fan of the body coloured bumpers. Made up the pieces for the alloy dash panels. Still need to be polished. Also pulled out the autotechnica seats and measured up the Cobra's to go in. I need to pick up some 50mm x 5mm steel strap tomorrow to adapt them to the escort mounts but it should be a relitively simple job. Once the interior is sorted out I will get stuck into the engine bay. Will get some pictures tomorrow.
  5. MK2 Cortina engine bay MK1 Escort engine bay (This will be getting some changes shortly)
  6. That looks great. Did you use a vinyl paint on the leather or just the frame?
  7. My Collection 72 MK1 4 door Escort, Just purchased, Has a worked 2L and a few other mods with more to come. 70 MK2 Cortina, GT look alike, T5 Borgwarner box and worked 2L motor with twin 45 DCOEs, MK2 escort brakes and english rear axle. 74 Chevrolet LUV, 1.6 G161 Isuzu motor, lowered, ratty, pin striping etc. This is the daily driver 60 Volkswagen Baja bug, 1835cc engine with Zenith 32NDIX carb, too many mods to list, currently in 1000 pieces and wont looks anywhere near the same when it is finished but here is a old pic from when I was driving it a few years ago. Sorry about the instagram picture. 80 Honda CB250, Did a cafe racer build on this thing, sold it recently Harley Sportster, Lots of go fast bits and pieces and some cosmetic stuff, This is the newest vehicle I have. 79 Yamaha RX125 2 Stroke, Bit of a dirt tracker build on this thing. has been put on hold to get things done on the cortina and escort. I should get back into it. And then I also have a bit of an oil can collection. Here is a few items. Nick
  8. I just ordered a set of speedhut gauges for my Mk1. A friend has had them for years in his VW and they work great. Why didn't you get a speedo with the indicator and high beam light included?
  9. That is sneaky. Give the seller a day or two to reply and then open a claim for "Item not as described" Did you pay with pay pal?
  10. Well I have tracked down - An early round headlight grille which is on its way from the UK - A second 2 dial dash to cut up and use for the Speed hut gauges - Crystal 7" headlights - Headlight buckets - Heater/Vent control decal - A set of front indicators to replace the ugly chrome LED ones - OMP flocked 345mm steering wheel - a piece of 1.2mm alloy sheet to re-make the dash panels Ordered the Speedhut gauges (2x 4" gauges, 200kph Speedo with an 8k tacho in the same face, 2nd gauge has oil pressure, water temp, fuel level and volts) Not cheap but the speedo runs on GPS so I won't have any variance and they come with wiring and all senders required. I think I will need to make an S bend or lay-back shifter as when I am sitting back in the seat firmly I cannot reach the shifter currently. Ill wait untill I fit the Cobra seats before I go crazy here though. 12 more days of work away before I can come home and get stuck into the Escort.
  11. It looks like it has been added. It is well done though. A bit like an adhesive pinch weld that sits around the lip of the guard with an outer chrome strip. I am going to try to remove them as the rest of the car has been de-chromed.
  12. As in the 2 peice ROH wheels or the black superlites? I can't stand the ROH wheels I think they are hideous. Judging by the seats and the wheels I would say it was previously owned by a young boy racer wannabe type.
  13. It's funny that the UK guys love the 4 door RS2000's and would probably pay more than a 2 door because they didn't get them. In Australia everyone still wants a 2 door. You can find a nice 4 door RS2000 MK2 for around 10k here but a 2 door in the same condition would be at least 5k more.
  14. Hi Peter Welcome. I am new here also and from Australia, although further north in QLD. OSF seems like a great community. Look forward to seeing your escort. Nick
  15. Well I bought another car. I finally own a Mk1 Escort. It is a 1972 MK1 XL 4 door. I purchased it site unseen on Gumtree and flew from Brisbane to Newcastle (Australia) and made the 10 hour journey home in the new purchase. Luckily the car was as described and apart from a very slow leak in a rear Tyre and a wheel bearing with a bit of a rumble by the 8th hour it didn't miss a beat! The car is a 4 door which some people aren't a fan of, but personally I am pretty happy with the purchase. It is basically rust free (Few bubbles from poor paint prep in the rain channels and a 5c piece sized bubble on a rear wheel arch is about all I could find. The paint is a home job and has some runs as well as a weird sort of reaction on the passenger side front door where there might be some bog that reacted to the paint??? But it is a presentable car and will be driven hard not looked at. 2 Litre Pinto engine 4 speed single rail box Lowered 2 inches on HD front springs and blocks in the rear MK2 2L front brakes AutoTechnica Bucket seats which are Mod Plated (These will be going promptly to be replaced by the cobra low backs from my Cortina) 2 Piece Roh 16" wheels (These have already been removed and replaced by the Superlites from my Cortina) The plan is to swap the 45 DCOE's from my Mk2 Cortina and then the Cortina will be for sale (Feel free to make an offer however I am in Australia), Re-make the alloy dash panels which are pretty rough, matching switch gear, put the cobra bucket seats in, fit Speedhut GPS speedo and quad gauge into the stock 2 dial dash, re-locate oil and gen warning lights to the switch panel in big LED's, Paint bumpers black (The qtr bumpers are glass so Chrome is out), De-chrome the wheel arches, fit a bigger more practical steering wheel that allows me to see how fast I am travelling, replace the cheesy led indicators on the front with some stock ones, Convert to round headlights and then pretty much drive the wheels off it! Oh and I also swapped the stereo from the Cortina into it which sounds much better. Anyway here are a few pics. Some from the advertisement. I took this one just before we jumped in it for the drive home I am quite bad at remembering to take photos but here are a couple when I got it home. Unfortunately I had to travel back to work for 2 weeks so I will have an update when I am back home. Nick
  16. The Pinto and T5 is a great combo. 1st to 4th are very usable gears and 5th I use for highway runs. I have put a deposit down on a MK1 Escort so it looks like I will have to sell the Cortina unfortunately. I will be swapping the seats, wheels, Carbies and a few other bits and bobs onto the new car before I sell. Id love to swap the gearboxs But im not sure if I want to cut the MK1 tunnel up.
  17. Love it! One question though. Why the tacho in the pod when you have a 6 dial dash?
  18. TBH I would have no idea whats fashionable. Something like this but with Bumperettes
  19. After opinions on whether I should have the bumpers and grille/headlight surrounds powdercoated gloss black? It is quite a modified car so being stock looking isnt really a priority. I can see it in my head as being tasteful but open to opinions.
  20. Ah ok, Done Thanks for the kind words guys. The car is far from perfect but it makes a nice driver car and has minimal rust even for an Aussie vehicle. I have found some Bumperettes for the front which I will be picking up and fitting when I am back home from work in 2 weeks, Also have a few bits a pieces for the engine bay on their way from Burton Power.
  21. Hi Guys I started a newbie post a few weeks ago but thought I would put up some more info about my car. (Converted to cable) - MK2 Escort front disc brakes with slotted and drilled rotors - Nolathane bushes throughout - Lowered 4" - Battery relocated to boot - Performance Superlight Machined wheels 13"/6" 13p front and 23p rear - Early Mk2 GT Dash and gauges - Genuine Nardi 350mm wheel - GT badges - Cobra classic low buckets (Just fitted, still need to remove the brackets and dissasemble for powdercoating) I keep forgetting to take a new picture of the engine bay, It is a bit different now, I have fitted a nicer washer bottle away from the hot side an oil catch can and neatened things up.
