  1. My Dad had a mexico which was a 1974 and it had a 1601cc engine he remembers being told that ford had to do this so they could qualify for the rallys. He friend used to have an earlier mexico and that had a 1598cc engine I know one is 3cc more but did they have to be over 1600cc or something so they could rally them as they had to produce road going versions. Another thing i wouldnt mind knowing is are the two engines the same spec (Horse Power, Torque etc) and does anyone know how they gained the extra 3cc?
  2. Sounds like the timing is to far advanced to me mate thats the most common reason for that. First thing i would check is the timing,Have you tried giving full throttle to start it from hot as mine sometimes done this and it started on full throttle no trouble. I know it is a common fault with the crossflow engine as the inlet manifolds get very hot and the fuel is vaporizing before it can get into cylinder head and be fired You can get past this by putting a lower thermostat in and also timing it up thats how i done it anyway Hope this helps you.
  3. Glad to hear your back to normal
  4. now that is funny, i once had a donut stolen by a seagull i was just about to bite it and bang
  5. Very nice Go on the four doors
  6. 3.77 mate that was slighly downhill though But on the flat i was holding 105mph
  7. Cheers Guys And im sure it will do more than 110MPH because my mate clocked me at over 115MPH and that was on a flat road power by a 1300 xflow which was standard apart from twin choke carb KnN and 4 branch and system so i am sure the 1600 will go a bit better than that Also i have a 3.77 diff so im not held back on my top end
  8. It only had a 110 in there originally and im sure the hotted up 1600 xflow will make it go a bit quicker than that well i hope so anyway
  9. Im well happy with this one mate and it was quite a job to get this one to fit into the two clock dash so im affraid i will be sticking with this one call escort tec he done this one for £20 plus p+p bargain Big thanks to Escort Tec
  10. Been busy fitting my new speedo today but it was well worth it
  11. If you go onto Kent's web site you can down load the cataloge in pdf format. In their catalogue it lists the BCF 1, 2 and 3 and then states "there is no subsitute for the following range of cams" and then goes on to list the 224, 234, 244 etc. I agree that a cam change isn't the easiest of things on the X flow as it isn't dead accessible. I have fitted (after checking a 234 without piston mods and would recommend one) I suspect you'll be happy with both cams but I think a 234 would be preferable. It's up to you though. What's your ultimate end plan? I believe the 234 will have a better spread of power all through the rev range, but you will have to part with some money..... I am really after something that will just give me that little bit more power but wont ruin the way the car runs and revs ups etc and i want it to be very drivable as i will be using it on a daily basis
  12. It would just be really good if i could get a video of one running as it would make my mind up. Its just the amount of work thats involved fitting the cam it makes me want to look at every aspect first
  13. Would any of you's mind making a video for me of your bcf3 cam in your xflow with it running. Pleaaassssseeeeeeee
  14. Very cool
  15. Hi people it is a 1600 xflow its going in and also the cylinder head its going into looks to have had some porting done on the inlet but the valves are a standard size as far as i can see and it has double valve springs fitted
  16. Deffo Think im gonna just put it in and see how it is
  17. Sounds good to me i bet it will make it a bit more fun
  18. Do you recon i should just put it in then? I just dont want it ticking over really horrible and not being drivable anymore
  19. Has anyone got any videos for me then
  20. Sounds good what did he have to have it idling at exactly to get to tick over smoothly?
  21. As above guys has anyone got a video of their crossflow running which has a BCF3 Kent Cam fitted or if not could someone make a short video for me pleasssseeeee........ I mainly just want to see how they tick over and a bit of how they rev up. Mainly because i dont want to go to all of the trouble fitting it to find out it isnt what i want (Rough Idling etc). If you have or can make a video and post it up for me i would really appreciate it If you could also let me know what carb/carbs you are running aswell that would be great Cheers Guys
