  1. I have mine with a cig lighter socket on the power lead and a magmount so it can get chucked in whatever I'm driving at the time. They're for pennies on Ebay now and there is no need for a licence anymore as they scrapped it due to it costing far more to administer than they got in revenues.
  2. Sounds like a plan. I'll either be in the Capri if I've still got it or the Mondeo if I haven't or maybe a ratty MK1 Fester. Not quite sure where I'm going to be vehicle wise. Either way, I'll have my old CB Radio in if anyone else has one.
  3. Being the registered keeper does not imply you own the title to the vehicle. The registered keeper is merely a person to whom correspondence can be sent. They would be well within their rights to report you'd stolen it after you'd done all the work on it and there's nothing you could do other than get a good solicitor to represent you in court when you appear for TWOC.
  4. Cut the metal shelf and mount the speakers underneath them. Next you need some thin MDF or hardboard, some mesh, ideally a sheet of thin foam and importantly ACOUSTIC FABRIC. Make your own parcelshelf, cutting holes where the speakers are and placing the mesh over the holes so you don't end up with stuff going onto them. Cover the whole lot in the acoustic fabric (do not cut holes where the speakers are - acoustic fabric is designed to let sound through) or if you've got the foam, glue that onto the board (again cutting holes where the speakers are) and then cover it in acoustic foam. You should end up with a parcelshelf which looks solid with no holes but will let the sound come through unimpeded.
  5. cos they gotta order it in. think ill ring them tomorow and give em an ear bashing. Give Sisons Garage down Burma Drive off Marfleet Lane in Hull a ring on 01482 374363 They'll have a recon or maybe a new one on the shelf. They had a new Capper starter motor when I needed on in February. Alternatively, what about taking it up to Car Sparks in Old Town and getting them to recondition it? They do that kind of thing and are cheap too.
  6. Is it getting another update or is that the final stand list?
  7. Cheers mate. Going to do it as a seperate thread or in this one?
  8. In your town, Praccies on St John Street or Motorcount in town if you can be bothered battling the wessies. Motorcount probably has the pretty coloured silicone stuff as well.
  9. Yeah, saw that the other day as I bombed past. It's usually not too bad. Might take a run through and have a look. Wife is away at some Jap thing at Lincoln showground so I've got peace and quiet for the weekend.
  10. If you're going to do it, please get them stamped into the bonnet rather than cutting a hole and sticking those plastic things in.
  11. Paid for mine. Not sure if its too late for a stand pass or not but pretty please?

  13. THIS WIRE IS VERY IMPORTANT BECAUSE WITHOUT IT THE ALTERNATOR WILL NOT PRODUCE ANY CHARGE.
  14. Been watching an Ebay auction for a 2L MK3 Capri. Made £1700. Price is definitely on the up for them. It's nice to see after years of watching Essies fetching silly money. I suppose it was inevitable really, especially as Capris are rarer than Escorts. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... NA:GB:1123
  15. Thanks fellas....back on now.
  16. Is Capripower returning a 404 for everyone else or is it just me?
  17. I'd definitely get the car and use it. I'd be having the odd conversation with your mate every day though just so he doesn't go do something mischievous like pull the coil wire off as you drive down the road.
  18. What cam have you got in it? I've always been a subscriber to the "Torque wins races, BHP sells cars" rule.
  19. Autoglym bumper stuff on the rubber spoiler - the one that looks like green snot. Also try smooth peanut butter if you're a tight arse.
  20. It could be cutting out because your air/fuel mix is too weak.
  21. The joys of a Capri is you're guaranteed that's what you'll get.
  22. As much as I've ranted on about mine, I know what you mean. THere's always something strange about the back of my house without a Capri parked there when I'm inbetween cars or they've been in the bodyshop for a few weeks.
  23. Is the wrong answer. If the age of the engine is known, it is tested to the emission standards of the engine at the date of manufacture if that is older than the car. i.e, If you put an old sidevalve engine in a MK3 Capri, it'll only have to pass a smoke test.
  24. Been around them a while. Currently, my Capri needs new valve stem seals, new engine mount rubbers, new clutch plate/bearing and the axle is noisy. By the time I've got them done, there'll be something else. Used to enjoy it and always having something to do on them but TBH, nowadays it's just getting a pain and I've about had enough. Sick of chasing rust, sick of chasing a never ending series of problems. Mine was resprayed 18 months ago and rust is coming back through already. It's due road tax in 3 days and I'm finding it hard to bring myself to do it. Selling it and getting something a bit more modern is looking more attractive every passing week. Seriously been thinking about getting a 2L Twin Cam Sierra Sapphire. I'll still be looking at something the thick end of 20 years old but in motoring terms, it's modern enough not to suffer rapid rusting or the never ending mechanical gremlins. Maybe it's because I'm getting older, my back is shot and my money could be done with going elsewhere. I've spent well over £10,000 on them in the last 6-7 years and when I sell this, I'll be lucky to get £1500. I know it's not about the money but about the crack however the opportunities to go out for a blast in it are getting fewer and I seem to get just as much enjoyment nowadays going for a blast down the local B roads in my MK3 Mondeo TDCi 130 as I do in the Capri, mainly down to the fact I've not got a rear axle droning in my ears, a sunroof that rattles occasionally or get juddering when I set off. I've been out to Scotch Corner at the end of March. I've been for a blat out a couple of times since then. It's seriously looking like the next time it'll go anywhere will be to CF if I still own it. Maybe it's because where I live absolutely nothing goes on in the classic Ford scene that doesn't involve a 300 mile round trip. Hell, even the nearest Capri club to me is a 150 mile round trip. Certainly, the wife seems to have more go on with her Mitsi FTO club which doesn't involve going 100's of miles. But with nowt to do and nowhere to go, having it to go to just a handful of events a year is looking pretty pointless from here. Sorry for the rant.
  25. Depends which flavour of Rover V8 it is. If it's the later 4+ litre model it won't.
