Absolutely. Buy a Jag engine for 50 quid and then spend a zillion quid on it for tuning and every time it goes wrong. OR Buy a big old Yank V8 for a few hundred quid, a decent set of pistons for a couple of hundred, a nutty cam for 90 quid etc etc. You'll be upping 500 brake before you know it, and (£ for £) blow the jag engine into the weeds! But don't use a Chevy 'cos they aint Fords!!!!!

Timed in the damp at the 2004 0-60 challenge at 3.5 secs. Since then we've done it in the dry at 1.4 secs That's on treaded tyres and with full exhaust.

Well done. I did the same about ten years ago. After the initial "WTF do I do?" I decided to freelence in the motor industry. Worked for a few race teams, a few colleges, myself, Prodrive, Hot Rod shop in the US and lots more. Saw the world at someone else's expense. Ended up far better off than working for my old boss, though after ten years absence I'm back working for him now(!) Oh, I had young kids too, and they've both grown up as total petrol heads. DO IT!

As far as I understand, 'Hot Rod' refers to a modified pre-50's car that has a flat windscreen. 'Street Rod' is virtually anything else that's modified. 'Custom' is specifically an RS 2000 (I should know)! It's good to see that the 'Hot Rod' boys (NHRA) don't welcome 'late model' rods at their races or shows. Gives you a warm feeling inside, doesn't it?

We do a similar thing with our roundy-roundy race cars. It makes the sidewall stiffer and gives less tyre roll and better grip, particularly in the wet.

Start with a tungsten burr (on ebay for about £6), and then finish with a flap-wheel. The burr cuts through Cast iron and ally like butter (so be careful) but it will be 100 times quicker than using a stone. Then finish with a flap-wheel to take the marks out & polish it.

Deffo try Nitromors. It turns the powder coat crispy and makes it easier to scrape off.

Mine was damaged by flooding..... The MSD tripped out for a while causing lots of fuel and no spark. "Wrrr Wrrr Wrrr Wrrr CLONK!!!!!" Three bent conrods, shattered piston rings etc etc. But I don't suppose that's what you meant is it?

High 9's on street rubber in full road trim. New 9 litre engine coming soon though, so that figure should (!) drop!
