  1. No idea beyond "they fitted what they had to hand" on any given day. I have seen an 1100L with a 6 dial dash (not cut unless an absolute wizard did the work) and NOTHING else Luxury/Sport/Gt about it. I think it was a day they had a shortage of standard dashes and did a batch with better ones to keep production going...... So that day they had a box of curved dials so they made ^^^that^^^.
  2. Nice lineup of Escorts. And the Mini is sublime!
  3. Didn't buy a new one but I bought the thickest goopyist heaviest stickiest grease the local Plant supplies shop had, and filled the tail section with a full tube. Refitted the shifter. No more rattles.
  4. Is it the bit that holds the bulb and fits into the housing?
  5. Holy cow. Surely a police report would get that sorted??
  6. No golf, pub, smokes or Netflix for me. 😃
  7. My '97 Estate Ghia. A workhorse. Kept for it's load capacity etc and just maintained/used it's been off the road a wee while now. I've rebuilt the front suspension and need to fix two small rust spots in the sills. Nothing "special" but it's still alive and 28yrs old now. No pics cos it's not allowed here. Too new 😂 😂 😂
  8. My 1974 project. This is getting a type9/Zetec Rear will be single leafs, atbs, watts linkage combo. Front will get bilsteins. Little inside except soundproofing and seats. 17" steel wheels and very low.
  9. 1972 Estate 1760 Kent, h/d type9, quaife ATB in narrowed axle, banded steels. Rs2000 struts, lowered spring cups, Gaz short inserts, Wilwoods. Standard drums with new everything incl relined drums with high grip linings. 130mph 6dial dash, Springalex, and a line-lock. MR2 recaros. Was even a RetroFord feature. Was Electric Effect Orange it's now in primer/satin black
  10. EATING RAMEN TO BUILD AN ESCORT!

  11. Are the nuts flat of does it have a slieve that goes into the hole? Thanks.
  12. These are a set I've had tucked away. Never had caps or nuts though. Any info would be appreciated if you don't have anything to sell. Thanks
  13. Nice collection. Great starting point you have there. One suggestion is the oil. I killed every escort engine I owned until I switched to Valvoline 20/w50. Enjoy
  14. Lowering the servo is very simple but requires either a new hole in the support or a new hole in the inner wing. It's by far the easier option. I'd not attempt it unless you have your carbs, on the inlet, ready to trial things though.
  15. recently restored stock as a rock barn find. zetec powered2.4 xe power

  16. Oh I forgot. It needed 2 coil springs as well.🙃
  17. Since I posted I discovered a slow weep out of the water jacket that has rotted a hole in the 4 branch. I can fix that easily and I intend to fit a bigger bore exhaust manifold anyway. Otherwise things looks good. I need to buy it a new battery. However. I also own a '97 Escort estate which failed its test on basically the entire front end and 2 rot holes starting in the sills. So I needed to buy it lower, outer ball joints as they had damaged covers and it ruined the joint, plus discs, pads, droplinks, short side driveshaft, both cv covers and a full service package. Its all fitted now except the passenger lower ball joint. Cos I broke the bolt. I've a new old one gotten. It will also be welded and back on its wheels by mid-week. He said hopefully! I also own an '03 Mini One. Its alternator decided to sieze! More work/time/money etc....sigh. But now I'm skint so the battery has to wait. I will prevail... I came across this sad sight. It only has a low comp pinto in it that was never drained and is actually full to the filler neck
  18. Really nice car that. You did a fabulous job on the engine bay! And as above, nice to see another estate saved. Here's mine.
  19. Its been at least 5 years since I fired it. Its a Pushrod Kent Crossflow 1700cc with a 285 cam. I only ever use VR1 20w/50 Plan is to remove the sparkplugs/fit new battery. Put a little oil down the plug holes, a couple of days before. Cranking till the oil pressure arrives. Fresh petrol connected to pump. Attempt start. Keep it at a steady 2kish rpm for as long as it takes to warm up and burn off the oil. Any practical advise? PS its been dry stored, drained of coolant etc the entire time. Thanks.
  20. Jealous?? Me? Pffft.... Very very cool cars sir.....
  21. Some years ago I restored a Mk2 Escort. I also heavily modified a Mk1 Escort while using it. I then built a very rapid Mk1 Estate. (pictured 4 years ago after running out of fuel) These were built in my garage, at home. While this was happening I was helping with, or at least aware of, many more. Not all Escorts but Capri's, Anglia's and Transits especially. Currently the Estate is partially disassembled to repair several annoyances and I know of 1 other project in a home(ish) garage. Discuss
  22. I run a Swapmeet, mostly Ford based. Been a few years since the last one, as the Hall was being used as a covid centre. Anyway. Anyone turning up in an Old Skool Ford (or any old Skool really) gets free admission. There will be a wee report in Classic Ford Magazine and in Irelands Irish Vintage Scene mag. Feel free to ask questions. Cheers, Alan.
