ok govt wants old motors off the road, its no secret, the mots will get tighter ,the tax exemption will probably get recinded, not extended! so,will they hit the modifieds? make mots harder? reduce the milage you can do? restrict roads and areas you can use your pride and joy on? these are all measures that have been discussed or implemented in e u countries lets face it all it will take is a modded saxo with big exhaust with a. doped up driver,to plough into a group of mums and kids killing and maiming ,you can see the press driving the politicians knife into our dream cars! in this land it really could happen. what do you reckon? A nice chap came into my garage ,said he was told i was the bloke to see about ford bits, he needed some bits for his sons mk2 escort.glass [green] dash ,struts a head ,and gaskets,some other stuff and heres the mug bit,he only had 35 notes on him but he would make it right,,,,,,,soon. that was over a year ago, MUG! WRONG he has just popped over today ,with his uncles thames [anglia] vanand said he knew it was worth a grand or so,and he got it off his uncle Bob for £300 [seen reciept ] gen ,fair condition ,needs a week to put it on the road ,he gave me the car for £250! cos i did him a big favour,and then he said "thanks" to me now isnt THAT a nice thing? photos to follow soon mike

bresco .com ,its the makers of those and they sell you enough to do the job and cheap too ,thats where all the ebay stuff is from they do poo loads of them all you could need EXCEPT gxl mk1 capri side trim!

I was at a mot stn in wiltshire a month back when a big head with a nice etype came in......and dropped one chrome wire wheel off the edge of the pit,car tipped and looked as if was all going in, we got about 8 guys under it and lifted and big head reversed back ,not a scratch! mot man was glad it wasnt him!!! mike

this is very much a structural part of the body! just try removing the skin and jacking the corner of the car up,the diagonal measurements across the roof change right from first pump! ok this is flexing ,but without this ridgidity you are in a high speed open topped box ! the diy guy will do fine with guidance and the right kit .it is not the job for a no-gas mig and begginer welders! HOW ABOUT FIBRE GLASS WINGS?THESE ARE FITTED MORE AND MORE BY OSF OWNERS AS THE STEEL ITEMS GET HARDER TO FIND and the overall strength of the car is affected dramatically, ridgid inner wing / outer wing construction goes out the window,and who talks of bracing or additional support?and do all f/glass wing fitters tell thier insurers? deep thought is needed on that! mike
