  1. One of my nicest moments was getting a toot and a thumbs up from a guy in a 250GTO Ferrari when I was out and about in my old 2000E a couple of years back.True Petrolheadonism transcends the monetary worth of the cars as far as I'm concerned! Wouldn't it be nice if ficking MGB drivers could get their heads out of their arses long enough to respond once in a while!!!
  2. Cheers mate.....doesn't really look like my cup of tea......looks a bit too Garimy and Wupert for my tastes......even though i'm a Nigel !!!!
  3. *** this means???? It's their meeting at the ace tonight, and I have absoultely no ide what they are, and therefore whether it's worth a visit!
  4. Saw a very clean Anglia Estate stuck on the hard shoulder of the East Bound carriageway of the M4 by Langley(J5) last night....In case he is a visitor to this site, may I say.....sorry geez, but I was heading west with a very fractious one year old, and a very stressed out Mrs in the motor, otherwise I would have done a U-ey at Slough and come back to offer any assistance I could have....honest! Hope you got home safe and sound..........EVENTUALLY!!!
  5. One sign of growing old.....I changed my everyday motor the other week, and not once did I have to consider what the insurance would be on the new one.....I'm at an age where anything short of that Bugatti thing that was on Top Gear is affordable insurance wise! Trouble is I don't know whether that should make me happy or thouroughly depressed
  6. "It is are not raining in Tokyo" One for the older generation there!
  7. I think that just about sums it all up PERFECTLY!
  8. YET!! Oh dear........... Oh dear oh dear Hold on ...........I meant that his car wasn't OSF yet, as in...as yet he hasn't got an OSF car, not that his car itself isn't OSF yet... I think that clears that one up
  9. I have noticed how many younger members we have on here (by young I mean anyone under 30! ).....restores my faith in the future that so many youngsters appreciate OSFs.
  10. TR6, Buick Riviera (mid 60s through to boat tail models) The new S-Type Jaguar Series 3 xj6 ANY Aston Martin, but top of the shop is a Vanquish and quirky ugly cars such as: Renault 4 Morris Marina Allegro Estate Austin Princess Maxi
  11. First of all, you are only 18 so forget all this "regrets" nonsense nipper......you've got kin years and years ahead of you to put eveything right.... As for me, not travelling when I was your age is mine (well once I'd finished my apprenticeship anyway). I am trying to convince my teenage Daughter to allow for travelling once she is in her early 20s, especially as it is so easy to do it these days, and it's got to beat sitting in front of Eastenders every bloody night! By the way, my Nan brought me up from the age of 8, and passed on when I was 24 and i have exactly the same regret as you, .....just make sure you remember to tell the rest of your family as often as you can!
  12. I'd "accidentally" drop them off the stretcher mate My best "paramedic" type story is from the forgotten voices book of WW1 anecdotes. Two British guys were captured by the Germans and put on stretcher duty. They were carrying an injured German back to the hospital when they came upon a wounded Tommy, so they promptly oiked the kraut off into a ditch and took the British guy to the German field hospital.....No wonder we won!
  13. now THAT is a tool of a motor...bet you felt like a million dollars driving it!
  14. Saw the post about the Capri that may be "bangered" and it got me thinking ( ) Is there a premium on using older cars or something in the Banger world? I seem to recall something about a Golden Oldie series..? I ask, because surely there must be dozen upon dozens of Sierras and Cavaliers etc about, rather than using up Capris,Cortinas and Grannys etc. I am not getting all sanctimonious about it either. I quite often go to Wimbledon, but I do have mixed feelings when a "classic" gets wasted, although i accept that most of these cars are beyond saving, some of them could surely go on to bigger and better things. Genuine question to any banger racers on here,
  15. something that bugs the fekk out of me. When a surfer is taken out by a Shark, or a local is eaten by a tiger etc, why is it deemed necessary to go out and kill the bleeding animal in question? Especially when it is a majestic beast such as a Great White or a Tiger (but anyone who wants to wipe out a snake gets my full backing!) Take the situation with Steve Irwin, and all those half wits that went out killing Rays....leave them alone you bastards....you shouldn't be fekking about in their territory in the first place! Just had to get that off my chest!
  16. Aaaah happy days (see my post under fastest car driven). Mine was a total rust box, but I loved it...and boy did it pull the crumpet! I did just about everything in my Z, and I do mean EVERYTHING
  17. Here here, as they say in the House of Lords. I work for myself, so that helps to get you motivated, but I would hate to go home at night thinking that I haven't earnt my money for that day.....it's all about integrity for me. And don't get me started on the "sickie" concept. I know of people that will work out that they are still entitled to so many days sick leave for the year.......so take them before time runs out!!...What the.....?
  18. My 260Z....the hairiest moment being aqua-planing late one night on the M4 when the clock was reading 125! That got the adrenalin going I can asure you! Come to think of it though, I've never really had an out and out ball breaker of a speed freak car! The BGTV8 was fairly rapid but handled like shite, and althought the 260Z got to that 125 on the clock, I suspect the true figure was nearer 115/120. All about ambience and aesthetics for me, and I can have just as much fun round the lanes of Berkshire in my Anglia as I could at 100mph+ on a straight bit of motor-way!
  19. I'm filling up just thinking about those glory years.....to my mind, it still looks good today,....unlike Starsky and Hutch which is sooooooooooooo dated now it's quite embarassing!
  20. Can we add "meldrews"....that way I can join in!
  21. Agreed, and in fairness to Orionmojo......I don't get Lambos/Ferraris at all....least not the new ones....because a GTO or a Miura certainly wouldn't get kicked out of the garage !! I do like that Maserati Quatroporte thing...but that's possibly because I'm a family man!
  22. I get your point re Beemers and Porsches, especially the Cayenne (WTF????)...but if you don't see the attraction of an Aston...? Still, it's the little differences that makes the World go round, and whatever floats your boat is your business
  23. My Mrs has always liked.....(and I'm almost ashamed to publicise this) Dustin Hoffman Willie Nelson and...this is the worst even though he was a very funny guy JOHN CANDY!!!! Mind you she would definitley dutch me for George Clooney tomorrow which is fair enough I suppose!
