I've often said I should start an AA type group called SWMA ("Shite With Money Anonimous"!!!) I am kin useless with money...I'm good at earning it, but I am totally inept at keeping hold of it!...I just have no idea where it goes! I was declared bankrupt in 94, but luckily met the present Mrs a few months later and as bad as I am with money she is good with it. Never buys anyhting unless it is in a sale, and still thinks £20 is a lot of money bless her! She controls everything and as a result the tax man, vat man and every other man is always paid on time, we have a nice house, a nice car each as well as my Angle-box, and no sleepless nights worrying about bills! She also has the one and only credit card, and I m not allowed anywhere near it. Know your weaknesses, and I certainly know mine...put a hundred pound in my pocket today and it will be gone tomorrow night, and all I'd have to show for it would be half a dozen classic car mags and the smell of a kebab polluting my car!

How long did it take for you to pass your driving test???
Osgood Isgood replied to Chris!'s topic in CHIT CHAT
7 months and six lessons....past first time! Mind you I did drive around illegally for the whole seven months before deciding I better take some lessons prior to the test (not something I would advocate....I was a young impetuous fool at the time) When I did take lessons my instructor was great. I had picked up so many bad habits driving, like one hand on the wheel, cutting corners etc etc etc...one day he said "Right I'm going to drive, and I'm going to scare you as much as you scare me!" He then proceeded to sh*t the life out of me with some truly brilliant McRAE-esque driving!....did the job and I listened to every word he said after that! -

Mate, you know, I know, and every married bloke on here knows, that if you don't take her out on that Saturday night, even if you could give her the moon instead, you will be in deep doggy stuff for years and years and years and years and years to come! Despite my bravdo in my tag line, I'd take her out mate, and settle for Sunday at the pod, otherwise just give her the keys to the house before you go ! -
Badgers nadgers springs to mind...............as a result of this site, I really am beginning to like yellow cars!

My worry is that, the frustration felt by the working class anglo-saxon male at the ineptitiude of successive governements (and I include myslef in that description) will eventually lead to mass support for the right wing fanatical f*ckwit parties as their only hope of change. And as someone who's Grandad gave up his life defeating the last lot of right wing fascists, that worries the fook out of me! Don't get me wrong, my politics are certainly on the Stanley Mathews side of the pitch, but I do draw the line at lining other creeds up against the wall for shooting practice!

I had no idea I was so influential! I'm off to have a word with Gordon Brown immediately!
-
Cheers!

and to Kames show !! What's that all about Doc? I have a home in Newmilns (Killie) and Kames isn't a million miles from me.....what and when?
-
What the fook is fuel duty if it isn't "road pricing" anyway.....??? As motorists we pay £40billion a year to the 'kin treasury, but still they want to tax us more! And what happened to democracy? Two million signed the petition against road pricing on the governements own web-site but they simply ignore us!...BATARDS!! The trouble is they have us by the short n curlies, we have no choice but to drive if we want to get anywhere so they know they can keep levying taxes on driving and we will have to pay it! I love Britian, but I honestly can't blame anyone for wanting to get out (I would if I could). I work my nuts off, up to 60 or 70 hours a week running my business but I sometimes think I should just jack it in, move into a run down council house and watch Trisha whilst drinking special brew all day, I think the government would support me more if I did!

In no particular order; Hillman Avenger Anglia Anglia Anglia Anglia Cortina MK2 Cortina MK3 Cortina MK3 Cortina MK3 Opel Manta (the first type, not the cavalier look-a-like) Capri MK1 MGB GT MGB GT V 8 260Z A30 A30 Mini 850 Mini 1275GT Wolseley 1885 Sapphire XR2 XR2 Escort MK3 Cavalier Vectra Estate Punto Van Golf GTi Sierra Estate Citroen Visa Granada MK2 Granada MK2 Viva I think that's it....................so far! And the best of all of them.................The first Granny...what a motor, I put close to 70,000 on it and it just kept going and going and going! Mind you as far as pulling crumpet goes, the 260z wins hands down, and quite a few feet up as well as I recall!!

I was 18! Very late starter.....made up for it since though as I wouldn't mind a quid for every mile I have ever driven! I have made the mistake of teaching my Daughter (now 15) to drive at the age of 12! She thinks she can drive the car to the shops now!
-
Hey Doc, you could always start ANOTHER ONE!!!
-
Had you asked 'Lotus Cortina £38,000 whats that all about ?' As it happens my original post was.... "Surely this is silly money, even for a great car such as this?" I aint some green horn at this lark you know, I have been into classics for some 20 years now and I do have a fairly good idea of the value of most classic cars and at first glance this one genuinely surprised me that's all! Perhaps if I'd read and fully digested the blurb that went with the ad I may have had a better idea of it's provenence! As for the "if you aint an expert don't comment"..idea, it would make for a pretty quiet message board if we could only comment on topics on which we were expert surely? Any road up I aint going to fall out over this me old mate, lets just agree that on this particular topic I was wrong and move on ok!
-
Coincidentally I sat down and drew up a list the other day, I got to 31 but I am sure I have missed a couple.....then again I am 46 and that is 31 cars since I was 17, so got a long way to go to catch up with you geez!!

Welcome to the pleasuredome matey! Cracking car, and I guarantee you will pull more crumpet with that than any of your mates will in a saxo !! Restores my faith to see youngsters in classic motors, if only I could convince my Daughter!!! She still thinks she's getting a Subaru for her first car next year!! -
Global warming my ar*e! If, as reported, we've just had the warmest winter since 1915, why was it so fooking warm in 1915 eh...eh....eh? Tis all bollix, but as long as they can raise tax against it we will have to put up with the tree huggers spouting off for a while yet....until I get a gun that is!!!

Just trawing the autotrader site and there is a 65 mk1 Lotus for sale at £35k!!!!!! Surely this is silly money, even for a great car such as this?

I second that call for Jimbob as Prime Minister, and I 'd have Judge Judy as Home Secretary! What i find so frustrating is that all the political parties are so bloody self serving you know full well that whoever gets in, no matter what colour rosette they wear, they will just spend the next five years feathering their own nests, and do absolutely fekk all about the problems we are facing. Politicians used to be do-ers, and even if you disagreed with what they did, you knew where you stood with them, now it's all about spin and popularity, and as a result they end up doing sweet FA!

Mrs phoned me from home late last night, local herberts have scratched every car on our side of the street!! Thats about 25 cars, all deep scratches, one poor sod has had "HELLO" scratched into his bonnet. The Mrs is decidely un-chuffed as hers has been done all down one side!! We are looking to move to a gaff with a driveway and garage pretty soon, and after this it can't come soon enough. I just don't get the motivation behind this..taking out street lights with a stone was about the height of our criminal activity when I was a spotty youth....mind you that was in the days when a copper could still give you a hefty kick up the arse for riding a bike with no lights! I know I sound like a right old codger but I really do despair at the World I am bringing my nippers up in.......SIGH!!!
-
30 years ago today I was just about leaving school, I had a 28" waist, no man boobs or grey hair and buns of steel!!! Thanks for reminding me mate!
-
Bloody typical though aint it.....been going, home and away, for over 30 years to places like WHU, Leeds etc, never had a sctach. I'm now a 46 year old Grandad, and get done over in Windsor....30 miles from the bloody ground, by a bunch of bloody teenagers!
-
No you wont mate, there are a few of us on here I took a right hiding from three United fans on Saturday night so I'm a bit twitchy at the moment...still we won so he who laughs last etc!!
