can't believe nobody's interested in this!

I have been let down for getting a van to classic ford, can anybody out there help? I have 2 free tickets for the show and will pay the fuel! The vans are all Mk2 transits (police van, ambulance and bullion van)and are in West London.

I doubt it, even the chassis and under the bonnet is white.

the spec lift in question isn't mine, it's Muttley's. Both me and him all name the motors. Anyway, good news the spec lift's been found. Not too much damage either, just a door lock and ignition lock! Seems he ran out of derv and they dumped him. He was on the street for 2 day, where another recovery driver noticed him (one of the lockers had been rifled through, and was left ajar) so called Muttley as his number was all over the truck. The bloke was a star, he wheel clamped the truck till we could get to him with Earnie the cargo. All's well now!

Did this get moved to Chit Chat then? He doesn't have plastic bumpers.....

At approx 11pm last night thieves got away with Dave the Mk3 crewcab spec lift. Taken from outside MUTTLEY'S house they smacked into the back of Delilah the minibus whilst making their getaway. On the same night somebody also attempted to take Earnie the beavertail cargo butchering the steering column in the process. Did nobody see this coming though? The reactors are built on a seismic fault, it was inevitable something like this would happen.

To be fair a lot of it was privately funded, but not all and there's also the cost to London in disruption, security and Policing and businesses that had to move or close if they couldn't afford the move. Maybe it's cos I don't get spectating sport, and if I did I think it's better to see it on TV anyway. The expense to some of the events is huge, how the organisers can say some tickets are 'only' £20 is beyond me, like it's free to get there and maybe take time off work too, and it's far more expensive if you don't live in London and have to find accommodation.

Exactly. Biggest waste of money going. It said on the news today that the olympic park was built on industrial wasteland. Strangely they did not mention the businesses that were forced into moving or closed to make way for the olympics.

The only thing I miss now is the rotating Ford badges for new posts. Any chance of getting that back?

Late last week I went out and came home to find some theiving fooker had taken me spare York, which I was gonna fit in the Mk1 luton. Why do I have the feeling I'm re building some pikey's Mk1 transit? I know it's not banger racers, they left a cologne.....

As somebody that has 2 businesses dependant on burning petrol and diesel, I'm not looking forward to it. That having said I can see it happening.

We decided to bite the bullet, and buy a 7.5 tonner to move transits. Anybody need anything moving let me know! I will post the pics later as it was dark by the time I took some and they didn't turn out well.

How will the govt gain? Tax? Hmm, not surprising. I can't see why the women's insurance has got to go up, surely the men's was overpriced? At first I thought quotes were normally offered on a case by case basis so didn't understand what the fuss was about. Until on the news they showed a set of twins who were 21. They passed their test only days apart, drove similar cars and yet the girl paid £1700 and the boy over three grand! Now that is wrong, there's no other reason to have the difference in price but gender. One thing though apparently if a doris is over 30 it will make little difference.

As for selling on a car you know to be damaged/repaired, ask yourself would you have bought it and then driven it knowing it's history? As (hypothetically) you already did buy and drive it, why would it be a problem? Here's why. Most civilians will hear 'write off' and immediately imagine the car as a crumpled wreck ready only for the crusher, and walk away. Never mind that a main dealer would charge the worth of the car for a new bumper, lights, paint and bonnet. It all depends on how much we are talking about, ie what you would be asking for the car. If it's hundreds, I don't think most buyers would care. You pays your money and you takes your choice. Over a couple of grand, you should tell the buyer. It's good justification for a low price. Be prepared to loose a fair chunk off the asking price though, even if it's sold as damaged repaired. Of the many vans we have, one is a recorded financial write off (due to an under bonnet fire, insured on a trader's policy) one that shows signs of a very big front end smack (and I pity whatever it hit) and lastly one is regularly driven, which only very recently (due to having new wings fitted) has plainly been been in an accident in the distant past. Would I not have bought them? Do I want to get rid of them? No way, they drive fine and pass the MOT, so I don't really care what happened in the past.

Just a couple of things to add. Being a write off doesn't necessarily mean it's a dangerous wreck. Cars can be written off cos they aren't financially viable (in the insurance co's eyes) to repair. This can mean a middle aged car with some paint damage (a large enough area with repair and prep) and it's more than the car is worth. Either way though, the first seller who sold it to your mate knew this was on the cards so he's the one in the wrong. Your mate had no idea of this, so sold the car on in good faith. Both your mate and the new owner of the car are private buyers and as such should have checked the car's background before parting with any cash. I agree with Vista in so far as telling the current owner to do one. If it got as far as court (which it won't) your mate can counter claim against the person who sold the car.

I would be up for that, if I can find a cologne stat housing before then! You can run, but you can't hide.....
