I know I have posted this before, but just can't find it! As show season is upon us, if anybody wants to copy the tax discs from the 80s and 90s I have on my website, go to www.a2ecommercials.webs.com and click on 'A2E wiki' then tax discs. As before, I am not selling these! They are for you to download and print out for yourself.

Does everybody realise that if you SORN a taxed car, it makes the tax disc invalid? You have to return the disc for a refund, and you lose the month you send if off in, plus a fee. If you don't return it, the car will be seen as still on a SORN or unlicensed if you take it back out on the road without re taxing it. You can't have road tax and SORN on the same car. Another way of getting money off you!

looks like this won't come off now as they don't have the money as they are seriously over budget.

I'll second that, sounds like a good idea to me.

The problem is, the behaviour is been directly associated with Old Skool Ford and the cancellation is appearing to be a punishment for this site. The cancellation flyer notice pictured says the Old Skool Ford nights are cancelled and that the Ace will not tolerate anti social behaviour, clearly implying Old Skool Ford owners (and therefore members of this site) are at fault.

A fair point re the Old Skool Ford name not being registered as a trademark or copyrighted by us in any way. BUT as the ACE are bringing the site into disrepute by implying that it was an event run and managed by this club (which is precisely what the ACE are saying with the poster on their FB page) then whichever way you look at it, it is libel. Primarily because the name when phrased as Old Skool Ford, and applied to events and meets is associated solely with this site (regardless of any copyright that does or doesn't exist). It therefore does very much affect this forum because people who aren't members but may have become so, may not now sign up as they perceive the sites members to be troublemakers and hooligans that cause problems at meets. Exactly. you hit the nail on the head and that's the first thing that sprung to mind when I saw the content of this thread....

The thing is (and I'm not sticking up for the Ace) their get out can be 'Old Skool' is a generic put in front of a lot of marques, so despite it's the name of this club, it can be argued the meet wasn't on behalf of the club, just aimed at the owners of the type of Ford. Not that that helps, it will still reflect on the site.

The thing that's bothering me about all of this is the fact the blame has been associated and heaped on Old Skool Ford the forum and club. It doesn't look good for us.

This is serious shit! Was this last night? We passed by on the 406 and saw the blue lights, didn't know it was that serious! Is there any legal recourse for the Ace just going ahead and continuing using the name? After all this looks very bad for this forum/club. Previously when I attended the Ace I saw similar cancellation notices for other club nights, and my immediate thoughts were 'can't happen to OSF, we are not like that'......

That I accept too, but I do know at least 6 people with a trade policy. They are all sick/working/moving/busy this week end though. Some people can drive 3rd party on a fully comp policy too, as long as there is a policy already in place on the van.

Fair enough, but usually by now there's somebody asking if there's a spare ticket going.
