  1. Plan is to leave Guildford at 7.00pm - go down the A3 and off at the Milford junction, past TW Whites the Mazda Garage, left turn at the lights and up to the roundabout, then the A283 to Petworth. So if you want to start from Guildford or join up en-route its up to you!!
  2. 17th April from Guildford to nr Pulborough West Sussex. look here
  3. Now the evenings are getting longer, and the weather better, its time for an evening run out in the OSF. So, next tuesday 17th April, I'm taking the old 'tina for a run from Burger King in Guildford (where the Guildford Cruise is held) to the White Hart pub just outside Pulborough in West Sussex. Anyone want to join me? Here's some maps: Burger King, Guildford: Burger King The White Hart, Stopham Bridge: The White Hart, Stopham Bridge (the entrance to the pub is opposite the Wyevale Garden Centre) The route will be: A3 to Milford A283 through Chiddingfold, to Petworth A283 to Stopham Bridge (if you reach Pulborough you've gone too far) If there is enough interest I'll print some directions! We should reach the pub by 8.00pm so if anyone from the coast or elsewhere wants to come along you're very welcome. Here's a link to the White Hart: link
  4. The 1957 Chevy Corvette did 0-60 in 5.7 seconds.
  5. Be good to see ya DJ Van - it looks like you've got a good collection of OSFs there.
  6. I want to put a better throttle linkage on my single side draught carb on my pre-crossflow. It looks like there are two options: This one: http://www.rallydesign.co.uk/catalog/product_info.php?products_id=3345 or This one: Webber WEBLP1000. So which is best? I'm not too fussed on how it looks, more important is reliability and ease of adjustment. Has anyone go either?
  7. Cortina pub meet - all welcome: 8.30pm onwards 10th April at the Marquess of Granby pub in Esher. Here's a map: A MAP

  9. Anyone know the name of an engineering firm on Slyfield Green industrial estate who might be able to turn up a nylon bush for me?
  10. Cortina pub meet - all welcome: 8.00pm onwards 13th March at the Marquess of Granby pub in Esher. Here's a map: A MAP [/url]
  11. The Yank 2.3 Pinto is physically bigger than the 2.0. When a mate of mine was looking to put a pinto in a mk2 Cortina, he needed a front bowl sump, which rumour had it comes from the yank pinto. But it turned out the 2.3 one wouldn't fit, it had to be a 2.0 which are super-rare in the states.
  12. Thats cos the early pre-airflow (side lights separate from grille and no vents on the c-pillar) cars were known as Consul Cortinas - and had Consul on the bonnet badge. If its fairly sound it'll be a good buy.
  13. Like all good old skool fords they rust everywhere! Structural bits to check: Bottom of A-pillars (where all the sh*t gets thrown up by the front wheels) Top of A-pillars (screen out to fix properly so usually get pugged up) Strut tops and supports (usually been over plated about five times!) Inner sills (give em a good poke) Jacking points and outriggers. Floor above chassis rails and outriggers Chasis rail where the anti-roll bar bolts on (both in the engine bay and from the wheel arch) Chasis rail where it kicks up at the back of the engine bay. Rear of sill where the rear arch joins it (where all the sh*t gets thrown up by the back wheels!) Rear chasis rail over the axle and to the spring hanger. Sometimes the shock mounts in the boot. Slightly less structural bits The spare wheel well. The front wings around the headlights Back of front wings where they join the A-pillars Hope this helps mate. £600 is good for a sound (no structural rust) Deluxe.
  14. Thanks for the info Neil. It probably doesn't really need a high torque starter, but is a pig to start when cold (not helped by a worn ring gear which causes the starter to jam!)
  15. Good lead ZetecVan - Brise starter motor looks good - http://www.brise.co.uk/starter_motors.html
  16. Anyone know about them? Best ones, what to look for..... come across some on e-bay here:- http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Ford-X-Flow-BD-TC-High-torque-Starter-Motor-9-tooth_W0QQitemZ180081487376QQihZ008QQcategoryZ27377QQrdZ1QQssPageNameZWD1VQQcmdZViewItem Any good? Can anyone help? BTW its for a Mk1 Cortina with pre-crossflow.

  21. Most Lotus steels are 5.5", 6" wide Lotus Steels were a special equipment option on the Lotus Cortina, but are pretty rare. I have heard of 7" Lotus steels but never seen any. The wheels on my Mk1 'tina are 6".
