  1. Heres one site that mixes them, he's good as well, the name of the guy to speak to is Ben Sterack http://www.furnitureclinic.co.uk/Colour_Charts.htm The other is Judy Bass at Leather training and Technical (LTT) http://www.lttsolutions.net/ both are very good, Judy is probably better at technical stuff but Bens slightly cheaper, if you contact them could you mention that Andy from the SCSF sent you in their direction as they tend to deal with trade customers but will know where you heard of them
  2. There are several different types of leather, and each need a different process to clean or colour them, Nubuck, pull ups, pigmented protected and analines are just some of the types available with pigmented and analine being the most common, theres 2 simple tests to establish what type you have and to ensure that you get the right dye for the job and dont ruin the item your working on. I know a couple of people who stock standard dyes and can mix them to a custom finish at trade prices and in very low volume, will dig some numbers out and PM them if you want...
  3. Doubt my Capri will be on the road in time , but I'm up for it if I can fnd a Capri for a daily driver ... If not then its the P100 or even worse the Vectra, I'll be geting me coat then.......
  4. Four rhymes with more and poor, better a more door than a poor door, although 2 is better than 4 Seriously, you get it whatever you drive, when I had my Mk1 Escorts (2 door not 4 ) people would always say "Nice Mexico" or some other totally stupid comment, same with my Mk3 Capri's, "Nice 2.8 Laser/3 litre injection" etc etc, even heard it Friday from the wife's grandmother, 85 years old and doesn't take any interest in anything much, until she saw a transporter pull up with my Capri 2000 GT on it (2 door ), "Ah, look, a Cortina, havent seen one of them for years, we used to own a Cortina.....", time to chuck her in an old peoples home then

But 2 doors are better than 4
  8. They resurfaced a road near here last week, they used the biggest chippings in the world ever, massive, more like crazy paving than bits of granite, well, ok, maybe not quite that big but you get the idea... When they finished it they drove this great big hoover type thing over it and no loose chippings anywhere, brilliant, pity the surface is still crap and the roads breaking up and sliding into the dyke but I guess thats just a minor detail...
  9. Cheers fella, I may well do if I get stuck with anything
  10. It wont be doing many miles (not for the next few years anyway, it'll take me that long to find the bits to do it), I had a 3.0 litre cologne kitted type thing in my head when I went hunting for a Mk1 to do, trouble is that although it needs work its so original (barring a few bits of trim and a pair of seats) that it does seam a shame to chop it about, so its time to get the bits together to do a proper job on it, ah well, looks like I need to find something else to use as a daily driver, anyone got a sensibly priced 2.8 special going?
  11. Yes, its mine, I've seen the LS sitting in the garage a few times, I reckon you've got the best view of it from the other side of the road, the closer you get the worse it looks I dont live there (family members house) but I'm always up there as we own the bit of land out the front and I spend most of my life trying to keep it tidy these days, if you see me over there pop over and have a look, you can usually tell when we're about, the kids tend to make enough noise. Managed to get it running yesterday (came with a full tank of leaded 4 star ) but its been standing in a garage for 16 years and it needs plenty of work, got the clutch freed off today and then the water pump packed in, ah well, add that to the long list of things to do...
  12. Ok, so I've brought a facelift Mk1 Capri 2000 GT, all original but needing some work, first plan was to get rid of the V4 and drop in a 3.0 Essex, then I got it home and thought it best to leave the 2 litre in as its all original, then I decided to go ahead with the V6, then the V4..... You know what I mean, what would you do, original or add the 2 extra pots
  13. Either way its a nice spoiler (not so sure about the red Ford logo though), what site did you see it on?
  14. I reckon its Mk1 Capri, if you look at the angle of it and how high the lock hole sits as can be seen in my pic on the last page. you can lead a horse to water...
  15. I'd say it's Mk1 Capri, the lock sits high on the bootlid, like this....
  16. Has anyone got a pic of facelift Mk1 Capri GT dash in unmolested condition they could put up please...
  17. Just sold my transporter last week and I need to move a Capri project from Braintree up to near Kings Lynn, Norfolk, can anyone recommend anyone to move it, telephone numbers etc would be handy
  18. I see its a private listing and it went for exactly what it was advertised for in the classifieds, its about time fleabay stopped people hiding the bidders identities...
  19. I turned this one up this morning, not bad price wise but I think I'm about to spend a bit of cash on her...
  20. Cant remember offhand but I think their around 25kg with cam in, I had a bloke in New Zealand wanted one a while back and couldn't get him a decent quote...
  21. Yup, Mk1 Capri 50", Mk2 and 3 52" (have seen 2 Mk2's running 50s though), Mk1 Escort baby atlas 48" if I remember right, havent seen one for a while though, all crown wheels and pinions interchangable...
  22. If your thinking of using ether be a bit careful in a confined space, I know a guy who was trying to start his tractor and ended up asleep on the floor for hours , nearly killed himself they told him at the hospital, deoderant will do the same job when sprayed up the intake, and is a lot more gentle, so you dont end up with diesel knock
  23. I nearly went and had a look at that, nice looking van and I guessed it might be a bit quicker than my old 1800 diesel How did they get around the fuel tank issue when they swapped engines, did they use an estate tank or use an external pump?
  24. Is the Mk6 the petrol one that was on Egay a while back in Lynn?
  25. Yup, end cap brackets from Capri...
