mk1super Posted September 30, 2006 Report Posted September 30, 2006 Was in the Wh smiths today getting my months supplies in ( Car and bike mags ) And as i was looking around i noticed on the cover of i think Redline mag a cossie powered Rx-7 Did i see right? More to they point why take such a top engine and put it in such a piece jap cr@p?
Admin Vista Posted September 30, 2006 Admin Report Posted September 30, 2006 Whilst I take the Cossie point I'm not sure I agree on the Jap crap, the RX7 rotary engine is a master piece of engineering.
antz Posted September 30, 2006 Report Posted September 30, 2006 i got wasted by an RX7 the other week. it had 350bhp and fooking flew!
MightySprocket Posted September 30, 2006 Report Posted September 30, 2006 I got blitzed by my mates RX7 when I had my cossie (stage 3, 360bhp ex Castle Performance Car)... best thing about the RX7 is the sound... worst thing the deminshing world supply of oil!
antz Posted September 30, 2006 Report Posted September 30, 2006 yeh the sound is earth shattering! the one that blew me away. i was sat behind it in a que of traffic and it had an exhaust so big you could live in it and the sound vibrated my steering wheel but damn it flew! put wings on it adn you have a 2 person aircraft!
mk1super Posted September 30, 2006 Author Report Posted September 30, 2006 Yes i know the wankel engine is pretty special mechnically but to put a cosworth eingine into a jap motor just seemed wrong to me.
RFChris Posted September 30, 2006 Report Posted September 30, 2006 Got that mag, and it is indeed a YB powered monster. Fooking top class bit of kit me reckons! 8)
Messenjah Posted October 1, 2006 Report Posted October 1, 2006 no urte all wrong the best thing about the rx 7 is when u are talking about it you get to say wankel lol what ever happened to that bike norton were making with a wankel rotary in it i saw in a copy of mcn last year it soundeed orgasmic they were gona use high pressure gas to seal the tips of the "piston" against the engine casing so there would be no rubbing and the tips of the "piston" wouldnt wear out and with no friction there would be very little need for a rev limiter you could make it rev soooo damn high ... oooo kinky
bashmk1 Posted October 1, 2006 Report Posted October 1, 2006 the bloke i bought the skyline of had an RX7, he said it had about 450bhp and when it worked it absolutly flew. but there very temperametal, love a drop of jiuce too. but in my opinion, one of the sexiest looking cars going. ive seen the thread of this convertion somewhere, possibly driftworks.
Gareth Posted October 1, 2006 Report Posted October 1, 2006 But one thing...... Why relieve a rotary car of the one engine that made it so famous, and put a normal piston engine in its place Jus makes no sense to me
D A N Posted November 28, 2006 Report Posted November 28, 2006 RX7's ain't 'Jap crap' one of the best enginerred cars to come from Japan. The reason a YB is in that car is because the geezer who owns it knows YB's more then he does a rotary.

More to they point why take such a top engine and put it in such a piece jap cr@p? Yeah, I saw it too I'm gonna buy a Posche carrera gt3 and fit a skoda estelle engine....... Good idea innit

Good idea innit The good idea is to do the oposite... Porsche motor in skoda...
Gareth Posted November 28, 2006 Report Posted November 28, 2006 hmmmm sounds like your comparing a Cosworth engine to a skoda engine No I'm not m8, worded wrong. Jus seems daft especially as the RX already has a crackin motor Cedric, I've seen a rotery powered Skoda Rapide
Gareth Posted November 28, 2006 Report Posted November 28, 2006 OK, WHO MESSED WITH A POST I CANT REMEMBER POSTIN???
tazrocks88 Posted November 28, 2006 Report Posted November 28, 2006 the way i see it is it would be like puting a subaru impreza engine in a cossie and a cossie in a subaru ??? but it would be cool 2 have a mk1 with a flat four like the rotary mk2 wat a sound both make!!!
Dom Posted November 28, 2006 Report Posted November 28, 2006 I posted it ages ago when it was on ebay, it does look at home though The shifter is rubbish but the rest is pretty sweet http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/1992-MAZDA-RX7-TY ... dZViewItem
D A N Posted November 28, 2006 Report Posted November 28, 2006 Wheres my post gone? I said he fitted a Cossie engine as he really knows those engines.
