prefectopop Posted April 1, 2007 Report Posted April 1, 2007 Off we set this morning, with my Transit van and Trident Trailers' car trailer (they know me by name now - should I be worried) with another mission to move cars up and down the A249 again. First we had a little job to do to move a Triumph Herald (a revenue earner for more to spend on our Fords), then we had to get the old Consul out of its home for the last 3 months (the drive at home) and get it up to the workshop. First problem was that because of the slope it was parked on the fuel wouldn't draw up to the pump. After about 45 minutes of cursing and wanging the engine over in hope, then cleaning out the filter, we opted for pulling the old girl up onto the level. 20 seconds and she was up and running, and within 10 on the car trailer. Once up at the workshop the next task was to swap the consul for Wayne's (CHUD) Cortina GT. out it came and onto the trailer for the trip back to Maidstone. Thankfully all went smoothly and all the cars are in the places they need to be with very little drama. We're becoming old hands at this car moving malarky. Hopefully they'll all be moving under their own power soon! Going back to work tomorrow for a rest!

prefectopop Posted April 1, 2007 Author Report Posted April 1, 2007 Hi Neil, just got your PM. Will let you know about saturday in the week. Hopefully we'll get the cars on the road soon. The Cortina needs finishing now - the engine, gearbox and most of the gubbins is in - waynes now got to put in the brake lines, finish the wiring, fit the clutch and brake cylinders and all the final touches. The Consul actually has an MoT but needs a damn good service and tune up. The plan with that is a fresh coat of paint and get it out for cruising in the summer. The Prefect is being worked on at the moment too so hopefuly that will be back on the road too soon.
Nettles Posted April 1, 2007 Report Posted April 1, 2007 Yeah Wayne's Tina is look'in sweet, I do like a nice MK1. A good friend of mine Mike has a MK1 Tina which is going in for paint on Saturday. I took him along to the Ashford meet and I think he's gonna join OSF as soon as it's back on the road.

Wicked - good luck with the paint on Saturday - what Mk1 is it? Is he part of the Mk1 owners club as well? That Mk1 is really clean - everything on it is new or reconditioned cos Wayne has put his heart and soul into it for the past 2/3 years. Can't wait to get it on the road. He's part of the Mad Moomin Racing crew so when we're all out we're gonna cause traffic jams with our cars, with people looking at them. Plan is still to get my Prefect, Wayne's Cortina, Si's (deluxemk1) Cortina and Daggle's 105E out together. Probably gonna be by the end of the summer but its gonna be worth it!
Nettles Posted April 2, 2007 Report Posted April 2, 2007 I'm not sure what MK1 it is, all I know is that it's a 4 door and that it was Mike's very first car which he must of brought back in around 1990. I wish I still owned my first car, my old MK2 Escort. I really regret selling it now.

Looking back now it was a bit of a squealer but I loved it cos it gave me freedom to go where I wanted, with who I wanted. I went to college and it failed its MoT. I paid for that and then couldn't afford to tax it and had to sell it
