sambo Posted April 5, 2007 Report Posted April 5, 2007 I have been offered a really cool car. It's a mk1 escort and it's really, really well specced out with amazing suspension, brakes, bubble arched, 5 linked atlas etc. No engine but i have one in the shed waiting.... It needs a re-paint really too but still looks ok. Anyway, i can just about afford this car (maybe) which would mean selling mine to pay some of it back. This is my problem. I love my escort and really wanted to get the atmo cossie in there to make a street warrior but i could never afford to do the things that this other mk1 has. I know that in the long run this other car is a good idea as its ready for the track etc and could cope with a big power turbo cossie etc. I just cant decide!! Keep the black one or go for the specced out mk1???????? HELP!!!!!!
Retromotorsport Posted April 5, 2007 Report Posted April 5, 2007 Go and have a good hard look first .... under all the make up is it really sound, have the bits been fitted correctly .. If its a goodun, then go for it
Jay_harrier Posted April 5, 2007 Report Posted April 5, 2007 What Retro said ^^^, the grass might not be greener on the other side
sambo Posted April 5, 2007 Author Report Posted April 5, 2007 I think it's all legit and well made, it's got a cage like a spiders web and the guy has invested quite a bit of cash in it too in other areas like the engine (that i wont be getting). Think i will try and get it but my lack of funds may get in the way. We shall see............... It's another step closer to the dream of an Alan Mann mk1!!!!!!
Wessie Posted April 5, 2007 Report Posted April 5, 2007 it sounds worth it just think of the amount it would cost to put that kind of spec in your one, sometimes its cheaper to find one 'ready-done' just make sure its all been done properly
sambo Posted April 5, 2007 Author Report Posted April 5, 2007 The problem is is that i have done all the work to mine and seen it through. Whereas this other car, isnt 'mine' if you know what i mean?
Wessie Posted April 5, 2007 Report Posted April 5, 2007 The problem is is that i have done all the work to mine and seen it through. Whereas this other car, isnt 'mine' if you know what i mean? hmm i know what you mean m8, you know that all you stuff HAS been done properly, thats why personally i do everything to my car, then i know if anything fails its my fault (sounds weird but it makes sense to me) i think you need to have a serious sit down, work out costs etc then make your decision, in the end m8 its only you (or your wallet) that can make the decision
sambo Posted April 5, 2007 Author Report Posted April 5, 2007 Yeah, The guy who's selling is a top bloke and knows his onions and i just put an offer in!! It is a cool car though.
sambo Posted April 5, 2007 Author Report Posted April 5, 2007 Lol, it isnt mine.................................. yet!!!
Rick Posted April 5, 2007 Report Posted April 5, 2007 keeep yours mate, youl have so much more satisfaction if its all your own work and you know its all been done well.
Arched Escy Posted April 5, 2007 Report Posted April 5, 2007 keeep yours mate, youl have so much more satisfaction if its all your own work and you know its all been done well. Nice of you to tell him that after he put an offer in. Anywho,if its the car you want,go for it!
sambo Posted April 6, 2007 Author Report Posted April 6, 2007 It's just makes more sense finanially in the long run i think. Love my car as i do and i will be hanging onto the leg as someone takes it away, i just can't afford to arch it and, well sort it as much as this one is. Anyone know someone who wants a nice black 2.1 mk1 escort??
Daveyboy20 Posted April 6, 2007 Report Posted April 6, 2007 I love your car mate it sounds and looks awesome but if you have the means to make another one better for less money well... go with the heart it sounds like the heads making sense so just go for your gut feeling!
sambo Posted April 6, 2007 Author Report Posted April 6, 2007 Just been out in the mk1 I want both!!! your right though daveyboy, it is a battle between the head and the heart and i think the head does make more sense.
