mine suck the petrol

all good for fun no good for everyday

enough said

ill stick with the hunt for the Twin choke

hmm you say that but i hear they can fetch 20 + to the gallon if tuned properly! thats just what i hear though...

it depends on what state of tune your engine is, if it was a balls out rally spec lump then 40's for sure, standard lump then the downdraft is probably best.

I ran a group A Irmscher 1300 Nova in the early 90's on twin 40's, 102 brake at the wheels & would still do 30mpg, I used it daily without any hassles so it can be done unless you have lead boots.

and where would i find a lynx manifold

Wait!! better question wtf is one of them?

its one of them things i have outside my back door for the prefect

will try to get a pic tomorrow :ykt:

basically its a manifold for a single 40, lynx is the manufacturer and its a proper period mod for xflows, normally about £100 for carb and manifold

or u can do somthing like this

Carburettor%20linkage%20.jpg

which is basicly 2 halfs of twins 40/45 etc so your runnin 1 chock per 2 cylinders 8)

buying the snazzy manifold looks easier??? but i guess they are quite rare???

so my next question is 40/45/50/55s?? i asume the bigger the number the more gas it saps??? singe 40 big enough for a 1300?

I hope I'm not teaching to suck eggs but it's fuel to air ratio that matters not big carbs. Adding more fuel to a stock engine that doesn't breathe anymore air would simply flood it.

twin 40's are a carb method to fuel each cylinder individually and provide enough fuel for a race engine that takes in a lot of air because they are built to rev high. a single 40 is an intermediate step. a twin choke is a moderate street mod. some mild 1600 xflows use these like the mex and XR2. so a twin choke on a stock 1300 would be more than ample. they are probably the cheapest mod to go for also.

hope this helps
