mossy Posted April 30, 2007 Report Posted April 30, 2007 went to look at a 72 mk1 4dr today...Very clean all it needs is a small (inch) patch on the drivers floor pan....rest is solid. Loads of spares in the boot...The 1100 has been stripped and rebuilt (with reciepts) No exterior rust that i could see from where it was in the garage....Been stored about 8years.. Bloke said he was open to 'sensible offers' What do you rekon i should offer without taking the pee?
Fiesta Steve Posted April 30, 2007 Report Posted April 30, 2007 Been sitting for 8 years, so no MOT, tax ? I'd say start at a grand max.
Fiesta Steve Posted April 30, 2007 Report Posted April 30, 2007 £1400 That has to be a start You have too much money !
mossy Posted April 30, 2007 Author Report Posted April 30, 2007 its tax exempt i think.....yeah no mot.
morcheen Posted April 30, 2007 Report Posted April 30, 2007 1100 engine near worthless, only good if you need cheap insurance, don't take much notice of the recipts as it's value is as a door stop in real terms.there is always more rust and things to fix than you first thought. offer £300 ,and if he says he wants more, tell him you can be the buyer and the seller,he then has to come up with a price.always start very low if they don't give you one to start from. good luck
flyingbanana Posted April 30, 2007 Report Posted April 30, 2007 just ask him what he wants.......i did that when i got my 1600cc engine(poss bored out) havnt found out yet.....and when he said £25 i said sold ...i was going to offer him £75
bomber1 Posted April 30, 2007 Report Posted April 30, 2007 look on the log book if its a 72 car its tax exempt if its 73 it aint! id go for 800 and see what he says. u can quite easly do a few hundred quid on bits n pieces to put it back on the road. ud have to do brake hoses cylinders pads shoes etc possable clutch if its been standing that long. a set of tyres cos there be shaged n all
Richierich Posted April 30, 2007 Report Posted April 30, 2007 £500! And hope he doesn't know what they're worth! I used to tell the locals at my pub what mine was worth and they thought I was taking the piss! example "£1000 for a crappy old escort, I had about 5 of 'em, don't be a twat, gimme another pint!"
PaulAshman Posted May 1, 2007 Report Posted May 1, 2007 It depends if he knows what they are worth really, that way you wouldn't be taking the piss. I'd pitch in at about 600/800 and see what he says.
Haynesmanual Posted May 1, 2007 Report Posted May 1, 2007 If its the one in the brighton friday ad, He wants £550
mossy Posted May 1, 2007 Author Report Posted May 1, 2007 If its the one in the brighton friday ad, He wants £550 Thats the one...tis now mine! But not for that price!
