tim Posted May 1, 2007 Report Posted May 1, 2007 pm this fella http://www.oldskoolford.co.uk/phpBB2/pr ... ile&u=1701
FlashCadillac Posted May 1, 2007 Author Report Posted May 1, 2007 erm good question it starts and then dies straight away, it had all new ignition parts over xmas so i wouldn't have thought it be any of those although the spark isnt great to say its a high power coil there is gas getting to the cylinders as u can see it in the carb and iv turned it over with the plugs out changed the coil 3 times.... so i dunno really.... im just going to drop a 1600 in it instead as the insurance is up for renewal
Jimbob-Squarepants © Posted May 1, 2007 Report Posted May 1, 2007 I may not be able to help you with the transportation side of it, but get it back to Rochester, text me, and I will come down and sort it for you mate
Admin Vista Posted May 1, 2007 Admin Report Posted May 1, 2007 RAC membership including full recovery facilities = £87 for a years cover Car transporter from Birmingham to Kent = £hundreds! and that's just one trip How soon do you need it done? If not urgent then take your RAC membership out, wait a week to 10 days then hey presto. Seriously if you're running an OSF on a budget and it hasn't been rebuilt mechanically / electrically, you really don't want to be without breakdown cover.
FlashCadillac Posted May 1, 2007 Author Report Posted May 1, 2007 i know that now!!!!!! and i would like it down hear like...yesterday but its not going to happen
escort new boy Posted May 1, 2007 Report Posted May 1, 2007 not far from me but that link tim give you he gets a heavy duty trailor for bout£35 a day thats what he said to me
V8ian Posted May 1, 2007 Report Posted May 1, 2007 Run a wire from the battey+ to the coil, guess it may be a ballast resistor blown, have a look on BuySell Cortina for a fella called BORTAF, he recovers for a good price.
FlashCadillac Posted May 1, 2007 Author Report Posted May 1, 2007 some of the guys who had a look at my car at shakespear said it may be the ballast resistor.... so what is one? where is it? and can you get replacements?
V8ian Posted May 1, 2007 Report Posted May 1, 2007 A quick fix would be run a +feed to the side of the coil that is not attached to the dissy, this bypasses all ignition switches, and the only way to stop the engine would be pull the wire off, that is if it starts. keep a spare coil with you, because you are running a 9v coil on 12v As to where the ballast resistor is on a Capri I dont know, its probably a built in one hidden in the Loom, or it could be a white ceramic block about 20x60mm with a wire at each end, and probably near the coil.
