looney_mom Posted October 4, 2006 Report Posted October 4, 2006 How petty can you get? Today I picked up my daughter from school and strapped her in her seat in the back, then fastened the baby in her seat in the front, then strapped myself in and drove off. As I got to the end of the road (the school is up a cul-de-sac and gets horribly busy at the end of the school day) the belt popped undone, I can't have pushed the catch in far enough, and the belt slowly rewound itself as I sat at the t-junction waiting for a gap in the traffic to pull out. I was intending to get out of the traffic just across the junction and refasten it but when I looked up a police car had stopped and the driver made a signal to me to say he would hold the traffic for me whilst I did the belt up. Thinking what a nice policeman he was I gave him the thumbs up, mouthed thank you very much and did the belt back up. Imagine my horror then when he followed me around the corner and stopped me so he could issue me with a £30 fixed penalty fine. He denied seeing the belt come undone and told me when I said to him about it coming undone in front of him that he believed I had no intention of wearing one, something that he repeated when I pointed out that both of my children were securely strapped in but what good would it do them if their mother went through the windscreen. Funny thing is he drove past the group of yobs most of whom were underage, drinking on the corner and obstructing parents and children trying to get past, so he could pick on a mum on her own. To say I'm steaming about it is an understatement What a tinker lol
mk2_boy Posted October 4, 2006 Report Posted October 4, 2006 well another hug neeeded... sometimes the fuzz can be so unhelpful
flyingbanana Posted October 4, 2006 Report Posted October 4, 2006 i had 3 tickets this year for not wearing it ............bad luck m8,all they care about is getting it on vid
Jimbob-Squarepants © Posted October 4, 2006 Report Posted October 4, 2006 You are not having much good news latley. I hate most police. Occasionally, you will come across a decent one, but they are few and far between. It looks better that he has issued an on the spot fine than just tell a group of f**k wits to behave. (Something they should be doing anyway) I was bought up with the "Children should be seen and not heard" & "speak when your spoken to rules" & it really does infuriate me that these kids of today can do what they want without a word being said by the law or their parents. There is no real justice these days, and everything is totally unfair. The easiest nick's being the motorist. If I am unlucky enough to get pulled by an a**ehole copper, I will speak my mind as I am totally fed up. "Oh, there are a bunch of underage chavs drinking and being a nuicance over there, shall we go and speak to them, oh no, wait, there is a mother without her belt on. Lets pull her, she wont give us grief" Pussies the lot of them. Bring back hard no tollerance policing from the 60's/70's & 80's. If you give grief, you get a kicking. The SPG were famous for that, & it would make these chav shiesters think twice. DOWN WITH HUMAN RIGHTS & LABOUR & LIVINGSTONE & PUSSY POLICE!!!!! Jim is now annoyed!
flyingbanana Posted October 4, 2006 Report Posted October 4, 2006 NOW BBBBBBBRRRRRRRREEEEEEEEAAAAAAATTTTTTHHHHHHHH...and make your self a cupper
Jimbob-Squarepants © Posted October 4, 2006 Report Posted October 4, 2006 I am seriously thinking about giving a copper this line I have set in my head. It is pretty much what the chavs say. CHAV = "What you gonna do, I aint 16, you can't touch me" ME = "I am Taxed, Insured, and MoT'd. I pay to use this road, now f**k of and catch someone who may give you some grief you pussy w***er" Yeah, I may get slung in the cells, but I am telling you, I wont go that easy. I will be using the Capri for what it's good for - Speed. Obviously, once the chopper goes up, I will be quite royally f**ked. I have run before, I will again. (That was before they had a chance to pull me over) MOTORIST = EASY NICK These are my views, and not of anyone who is related or uses this site.
looney_mom Posted October 5, 2006 Author Report Posted October 5, 2006 I'm going to appeal. he was in the car on his own, so its my word against his. It was an ordinary little Fester and I'm sure it didnt have a video in it otherwise it would have showed the belt sliding undone. If I had been guilty as charged I'd have been cross but I'd have thought fair enough, but I'm 99% sure he saw that belt come undone and me trying to grab it as it went. Bugger it, why shouldnt I make it as diffficult as possible for them

flyingbanana Posted October 5, 2006 Report Posted October 5, 2006 well they do have vid to prove it ....i got showed once when i got done for it...so if thats the case you are on a winner ,good luck to what you choose to do
Pipster007 Posted October 5, 2006 Report Posted October 5, 2006 Car drivers are just easy targets. If you can't pay a fine and it builds up eventually ending up in court, they'll impound your car It's too much hassle for them to deal with underage drinking and other crimes
dannyboy Posted October 5, 2006 Report Posted October 5, 2006 W@nkers!!! In a simialr vein to what happened to you, yesterday i was taking my brothers car off the road coz it had no tax ( yes it was 4 days over and the car is illegal) BUT, i work two jobs and get very little time to do anything and my brother is a very busy person. I got in the car to take it round the back of my house, when this snotty copper told me to wind the window down and said your cars out of tax, i said i know thats why i'm taking it off the road. The female copper said she would rather give me a ticket, and i said what about those two (chavs) walking past, to which she said they havent done anything. To be fair they hadnt but they obviously havent got jobs and i contribute to both their wages ( police and no hopers). They let me off, probably coz i started the car and edged forward. I then went round behind my house and who is there but the 2 chavs eyeing up my car. So i drove quite quickly(understatement) towards them and they carried onto to walk away. I know i'm going on, but i have just dropped my gf off and was coming home, to see a transit stranded in the middle of the road and i got out to help push (ran out of petrol). When we were struggling to push a van full of bricks, the same copper came over and said to the owner have you got mot/insurance.....instead of blocking the road so we could park it up. How lame, they obviously have targets to hit and £30 here and there must do wonders for their pay packet. I want out of this country Sorry for going on.
Danmex Posted October 5, 2006 Report Posted October 5, 2006 To be fair they hadnt but they obviously havent got jobs That one line has made my day, I laughed out loud when I read it
Dom Posted October 5, 2006 Report Posted October 5, 2006 When I was little all I ever wanted to do was be a policeman and drive a porsche 911. I'm still not that old but I have already realised that my childhood dream to be a man of the 'law' probably isn't going to happen as I found out that most coppers are bent and alot of the ones that aren't are just pri*ks. I hate the shitty version of law that they don't try very hard in enforcing and I've realised that 911's are expensive. My dreams are dashed
BIGKEV Posted October 5, 2006 Report Posted October 5, 2006 Police and Criminals are the same - they just choose one side of the line .... It takes a criminal mind to catch a criminal hence police have criminal minds! Thats how I see it - I know there aree good coppers out there but I still say that the coppers of this land are only making sure that the country is safe and wealthy - now I also think that traffic violations are a waste of time - but as a few of you have said - motorists are a captive audience - ie you cant get away and you can afford the fine more than some dole scumbag who is in and out of police cells for dealing a few eights or burgling some houses - This country is going to the DOGS !!
LEONMEX Posted October 5, 2006 Report Posted October 5, 2006 I work with a "special" copper we call him "hobby bobby" he does all the coppers dirty work for them gets all the abuse & don't even get paid for it. figure that out??
Guest V6MAT Posted October 5, 2006 Report Posted October 5, 2006 its the law to wear it if you didnt wear it or it came off then you should be fined theyre only doing there job....if they saw you doing ur job and said you shouldnt of done somit would they ofcomplained bout it either apy the fine or get onto the company you bought it from (new car) and say the car you bought is unsafe and they should either pay it or you get em in trouble for selling dangerous products... by any chance is it a vauxhall?
Guest V6MAT Posted October 5, 2006 Report Posted October 5, 2006 Funny thing is he drove past the group of yobs most of whom were underage, drinking on the corner and obstructing parents and children trying to get past, so he could pick on a mum on her own. are "yobs" not allowed to stand on the corner maybe you should give out to the parents and children for trying to walk where the "yobs" were...how do you know they were underage drinking did you ask em for id and test what the were drinking for alcohol......

Not being funny Matthew, that is not for us to be questioning. That question is for the law to be asking, but they wont. They are too scared of a situation kicking off, and realising that nicking a mother with no seat belt was far to easy & thus no grief!!! Yes I agree, you should be wearing a seat belt as it's the law, but, how many laws do us motorists have to abide by???? I mean, once every year we have to pay out extorsional amounts of money for 3 bits of paper, one of those being the most expensive piece of paper you may come across. I know seat belts can have a mind of their own, and I do sympathise with Looney Mom as my one in the Capri often does what she has explained. My point is this, as motorists, we can't even break wind without being nicked for something. It is getting ridiculous, there are speed cameras & CCTV watching our every move, there is tax on fuel, tax on parts tax on, er, tax. The motorist is seen as an easy nick, something they don't have to do much work for, and the fact that the copper had seen the belt come undone just makes it worse. Either way you look at it, chavs drinking (under age or not) in the middle of the day, making themselves a nuisance to mothers and their children, should have been approached and spoken to. That is a drunk and dissorderly charge right there!!! I know it is far to easy to cast asspersions and tar everyone with the same brush, but, who here would be on the street drinking alcohol in the middle of the day???? Hardly anyone, because the majority would be at school, college or work, why weren't they????
Guest V6MAT Posted October 5, 2006 Report Posted October 5, 2006 how many laws do us motorists have to abide by???? all of them otherwise they wouldnt be called laws would they? Hardly anyone, because the majority would be at school, college or work, why weren't they???? mabye they have jobs and spend there hard earned money on drink and work nights so they drink during the day and they were "yobs" "chavs" etc ever hear of stereotyping????? they could of been good lads who had a day off skool and were drinking a non alcohol substance and having fun
Guest V6MAT Posted October 5, 2006 Report Posted October 5, 2006 dont pay road tax and yours roads will be shite yer lucky to have the roads ye have car tax over here is way more expensive so ye should consider urselves lucky
looney_mom Posted October 5, 2006 Author Report Posted October 5, 2006 Funny thing is he drove past the group of yobs most of whom were underage, drinking on the corner and obstructing parents and children trying to get past, so he could pick on a mum on her own. are "yobs" not allowed to stand on the corner maybe you should give out to the parents and children for trying to walk where the "yobs" were...how do you know they were underage drinking did you ask em for id and test what the were drinking for alcohol...... Actually I know alot of them by sight from the estate. Some of them are in the same year as my 14 year old daughter, some are even younger and the fact that the cans say 'Stella' on them is usually something of a giveaway. They hang about outside the shops trying to get people to go in for more cans and fags for them. And another thing Matt if I had stopped to replace the seatbelt at the point where it came undone I would have been causing an obstruction and been a danger to the lollipop lady and children. My point was he saw the belt slide undone so he knew I had at least attempted to put it on. If he didnt see it do that why did he make the hand signs that he made? Under the circumstances I felt I was taking the safest possible option in waiting until I got across the staggered junction to do it up again. Not that I should have to justify myself but if I HAD been actually driving all over the place without a belt on I'd have been cross but I certainly wouldn't have made a fuss like this about it
Mr.Sumo Posted October 6, 2006 Report Posted October 6, 2006 I think that sucks Looney Mum As the law stands , the only copper that can nick you on there own is a bike copper , otherwise as you stated , its his word against yours . I would seriously take legal advice and double check . The other option is to go down the cop shop and put in an official complaint , it means the coppers have to fill bundles of paperwork in , which they fookin hate , and make them aware that you are not going to let this drop and will be prepared to go as far as you legally can to get the fine scrapped .....they plod hate it when you do that , i know from personnal experiance good luck....stick it up the fookers
