arch Posted June 3, 2007 Report Posted June 3, 2007 has any 1 got it on there manifold if so did u find any differace in heat or power sound??? ur answers below please lol thanks
Twinkle Posted June 3, 2007 Report Posted June 3, 2007 not got it as i have heard from many people you end up with condensation breaking the welds
Admin Vista Posted June 3, 2007 Admin Report Posted June 3, 2007 Yes it does reduce underbonnet temperature, but it also drastically shortens the life of the manifold and increases the corrosion rate of it. If your budget stretches to it I'd recommend cermakroming, here's how mine came back, and after a 1000 miles there's no sign of any discolouration.
Admin Vista Posted June 4, 2007 Admin Report Posted June 4, 2007 that looks the nuts was it expensive Errmm sadly yes, £220 inclusive of VAT and carriage but worth it when you consider the manifold will never rust or crack
flyingbanana Posted June 4, 2007 Report Posted June 4, 2007 have you got a link vista...also do you know if they do other parts?
Admin Vista Posted June 4, 2007 Admin Report Posted June 4, 2007 have you got a link vista...also do you know if they do other parts? I think they'll do pretty much anything, the contact to speak to there is Peter Carter, very helpful when I've spoken to him http://www.camcoat.u-net.com/index.htm
spooner Posted June 5, 2007 Report Posted June 5, 2007 had a row with janspeed years ago about this, best bet is not to wrap it,makes the pipes contract and crack.
Gilli Posted June 5, 2007 Report Posted June 5, 2007 I use heat shield around the bulkhead and tunnel instead, its the safer option i reakon.
4parajon Posted June 5, 2007 Report Posted June 5, 2007 Basically in a nutshell the wrap does not allow the condensation to dissepitate (not sure thats spelt right ) therefore it reduces the lifespan of the steel used because it rusts from the inside out. As well as the one Vista has used I think there's a firm that advertises on the back/inside cover of either CF or RF......or is it the same one as Vista used??
luz008 Posted June 5, 2007 Report Posted June 5, 2007 id agree with above - cermakroming looks awesome and seems expensive but your manifold may only last a few months with exhaust wrap. some people's on TS have rotted after about 7 months but then again others have been fine for a couple years?? so i suppose it depends on how expensive your manifold is and how long you want to keep it. its going to cost you say £60 to wrap it properly and how long will it last?
arch Posted June 5, 2007 Author Report Posted June 5, 2007 ok cheers fellas for the info ill be staying away from this i think. ur manifold does look pretty sexy vista
Mk 1 Mark Posted June 5, 2007 Report Posted June 5, 2007 I have had my car for 2 years and used it loads in that time....with the exhaust wrap on it I decided to re-wrap my exhaust when i took the old stuff of the manifold was fine, So im well happy with it
