Rick Posted June 6, 2007 Report Posted June 6, 2007 these automatic £80 fines issued by the dvla.... surely if your cars not on their computer you dont get fines right? cuz i have two cars currently SORN but i havent had a SORN reminder for either since iv had them./ is this because the dvla dont have these cars on file yet? i thought you had to renew your SORN every year??
Jimbob-Squarepants © Posted June 6, 2007 Report Posted June 6, 2007 You do mate... I had a similar situation a few months back with a scooter I bought for spares. I had no log book sent, or SORN's / Tax Reminders. Why??? Because the usless tw*ts at the DVLA got my house number wrong. If it wasn't for our half sensible postman, I wouldn't have known about the final demand from the bayliffs wanting their £80 Shame he wasn't delivering our letters when the Log Book went to the wrong house, which incidentally, doesn't exist. I should have just not said anything... Robbing Barstewards. You could get in touch, but you will risk everything being dragged up and them fining you for each year the vehicle hasn't been taxed... this also applies to SORN's as well. Good luck mate

Just make your own sorn declaration online now, it's a doddl;e and takes seconds http://www.vehiclelicence.gov.uk/EvlPor ... clare+SORN
sambo Posted June 6, 2007 Report Posted June 6, 2007 I didnt declare my Clio sorn whilst i changed the suspension and other stuff for the mot and i got a frigging fine. I tried to say that i sent it but they didnt recieve it but they stuck to thier guns and fined me anyway.
flyingbanana Posted June 6, 2007 Report Posted June 6, 2007 i got fined before....with fine and tax cost for one year cost me over £300
Jimbob-Squarepants © Posted June 6, 2007 Report Posted June 6, 2007 you know me and Tax....leave it there Yes, I do
Smudger105e Posted June 6, 2007 Report Posted June 6, 2007 also: how do you apply for your tax free disk cuz on the dvla wensire its saying £180 a year but the car is tax free!"? Look up three of our cars, RGT950E, JWP862C and SRC50F, all (I hope!) show as costing for road tax. When you get the car MoT'd, you will have to take the documentation to a local DVLA office to have the taxation class changed from PLG to Historic Vehicle... None of our three are declared sorn as they have not been taxed and MoT'd since the sorn regulations came into force.

If the vehicle was taken off the road before SORN regulations came in, you wont get fined! I love getting my free tax disc, it is worth the dirty looks they give you because they hate giving out free tax disc's
