Gareth Posted October 10, 2006 Report Posted October 10, 2006 [......yes it is a 2.8 but if you know a cologne 2.8 you know its a weezy old shit bag of an engine and an escort with a 1600 will probably beat it.... My sierra goes well wit a 2.8.... Or am I jus not experienced in V6's yet
kms Posted October 10, 2006 Report Posted October 10, 2006 Well I think this topic has been made far more complicated than it ever needed to be! If you want to meet up at the pod and race against similar cars / drivers with little experience - go for it. Do it on the same day as an osfdc - then you can meet up with others from here too, why not enter in osfdc aswell and get the best of both worlds. If your going to pay for a day at a drag strip it's going to cost the same regardless of who you race. And if your lined up seperate to the osfdc then you could end up racing a vauxhall with a 2ltr in it that would anilate you anyway. I'd rather be blown by an osf anyday! - oo-er Back to the topic in hand - I'm 24 and have never been down the strip. And I'll apologies now if anyone takes offence
caprifan Posted October 10, 2006 Report Posted October 10, 2006 ok ...please don't feel offended...I just quoted you as you were the last to respond.......I keep telling the wife to sell a couple of kids to fund a mahoosive V8 but she aint having it

Or am I jus not experienced in V6's yet ..there ok but the 160bhp Ford claimed is exagerated...a good engine will give 140bhp...mine put out a crappy 130bhp...not a lot when you consider its 2800cc ......do love a 'V' though
Gareth Posted October 10, 2006 Report Posted October 10, 2006 Can't beat the burble thru stainless exhausts Chris I was a little disappointed with their output TBH, I still believe that Capri's should've had a V8 option

pigeon Posted October 10, 2006 Report Posted October 10, 2006 I'm turning 21 and think it would be nice to have meets for the younger ones on the site. Not bothered about a younger osfdc as if i want to (had the money to) i wouldn't be bothered stripping it with the big boys, i like to think i could hold my own.
Tom Posted October 10, 2006 Report Posted October 10, 2006 I'm turning 21 and think it would be nice to have meets for the younger ones on the site. Not bothered about a younger osfdc as if i want to (had the money to) i wouldn't be bothered stripping it with the big boys, i like to think i could hold my own. but still, why exclude the older lot? i'm 26 does that mean i'm not invited to the youngsters OSF meet? i dont get it
Messenjah Posted October 10, 2006 Report Posted October 10, 2006 im not trying to piss anyone off or insult anyone but i tlk to smithy and loubie more then ne1 else at the stevenag emeet with the possible exception of stuball and i think its often easier to talk to guys (and girls) of a similar age its not about excluding the older guys its about meeting up with a bunch of people a similar age and talking about osfs obviously and other things which ppl tlk about u kno how it is i think this is what some fo the guys are getting at im not saying i dont enjoy talking to the other guys at the meets (well ive only been to the stevenage one but ill make it to more) because theyre always alot more experienced and you can really learn something from them and most of them are a good laugh but i still think a young guns meet is a good idea
Capri_Steve Posted October 10, 2006 Report Posted October 10, 2006 I think messenjah got it right, its not ONLY the racing, its the atmosphere to. I ended up talking to no-one but my mates at ashford meet, because was too intimidated by everyone looking far more clued up/older (no offence). If you had a little line up of young people with smaller spec, I think the general atmosphere etc would be awesome. Only my 2 pennys worth though.
Rick Posted October 10, 2006 Author Report Posted October 10, 2006 iv never been to a proper meet but i know i wouldnt go up to an older bloke/doris and chat to them cuz id feel like a little scrote, wheras i would talk to another little scrote
Admin Mk2Jo Posted October 10, 2006 Admin Report Posted October 10, 2006 there should be an 18-25 osf meet that involves lots of drinking (no driving afterwards of course FPMSL at this thread You would never catch any of us sensible oldies drinking an behaving in a drunken manner .... we would never pole dance with our arses on show (Marty ) or paint people's faces with fluorescent yellow pen while they over do it on the Pimms (me and Pipster), nor would you find us riding the bumper cars at midnight while going to Tesco's for a loaf of bread (Tom) or crowing "this is my time" like a big cock at 4am on the campsite (Jay XEGrowler). I dunno .... we just don't have a clue us oldies. And we are all absolutely minted ..... I'm not a single parent with a bog std Escort really - I'm loaded and my car is cossie powered with nitrous .... (I wish). I understand that you feel awkward but we aint that bad .... really we're not With regard to the OSFDC - anyone can enter. I know what you mean about it being more fun and feeling more competitive if you go up against someone that has equal power but that can never be guaranteed regardless of if you are in the OSFDC or running on your own ... especially at Santa Pod .... you don't always get the choice. If you really want your own "young" persons meet then get yourselves together and organise one ... there's nothing to stop you ... and there's nothing to stop you from having your own mini competition between yourselves on the strip .... you just need to organise it. In the meantime, you are all welcome to join us oldies with our ovaltine and our slippers but remember how you speak because we just might not be able to tolerate your lively conversations about girls and beer because we might be just too shocked Seriously though guys, if you can't come over on your own and talk to us .... find a special friend and come in twos .... you never know, we might just understand what you're talking about
Capri_Steve Posted October 10, 2006 Report Posted October 10, 2006 No need to get sarcy on us. Its all just suggestions and reasons for them, you don't need to defend yourselves.
Admin Mk2Jo Posted October 10, 2006 Admin Report Posted October 10, 2006 Yeah, sorry about that Steve ... must be my old age kicking in .... I guess it's along time since I was young and having fun like you lot
Messenjah Posted October 10, 2006 Report Posted October 10, 2006 ok lemme try n pu it another way... not trying to offend anyone if someone in their thirties or forties went out and bought a saxo and chavved it up to the max and took it down to their local chav meeting stop it would seem a bit weird wouldnt it and they might feel a bit out of place with all the 17 18 19 year olds ... so if a 17 year old with an osf goes out and meets up with a bunch of older ppl why can you not accept that we might feel a bit weird about it im not saying i dont feel welcome at the stevenage meet which is the only one ive been too and i dont think theres anyone there i wouldnt talk to just because theyre older then me but i think it might be fun for some of the younger guys to meet up somewhere ......
Admin Mk2Jo Posted October 10, 2006 Admin Report Posted October 10, 2006 I get what you're saying ..... all I'm saying is that you are welcome regardless of your age. If you want an OSF under 25's meet then go ahead and organise one
Rick Posted October 10, 2006 Author Report Posted October 10, 2006 are you sure you wont be offended ok enough i only wanted to know if young ppl used the message board
Admin Mk2Jo Posted October 10, 2006 Admin Report Posted October 10, 2006 What are young people then ....... JUST KIDDING
Capri_Steve Posted October 10, 2006 Report Posted October 10, 2006 pmsl jo perhaps you are the most sarcastic person here. Anyways yeah lets have a meet. No "oldies" with their no fun attitude P.s. i'm joking
Admin Mk2Jo Posted October 10, 2006 Admin Report Posted October 10, 2006 pmsl jo perhaps you are the most sarcastic person here.
caprifan Posted October 10, 2006 Report Posted October 10, 2006 pmsl jo perhaps you are the most sarcastic person here. I could of told you all THAT .......... oh sorry Jo you told me to stop picking on you........
pigeon Posted October 10, 2006 Report Posted October 10, 2006 im not trying to piss anyone off or insult anyone but i tlk to smithy and loubie more then ne1 else at the stevenag emeet with the possible exception of stuball and i think its often easier to talk to guys (and girls) of a similar age its not about excluding the older guys its about meeting up with a bunch of people a similar age and talking about osfs obviously and other things which ppl tlk about u kno how it is i think this is what some fo the guys are getting at im not saying i dont enjoy talking to the other guys at the meets (well ive only been to the stevenage one but ill make it to more) because theyre always alot more experienced and you can really learn something from them and most of them are a good laugh but i still think a young guns meet is a good idea ditto
over_head_cam Posted October 10, 2006 Report Posted October 10, 2006 I've got a good idea. Split OSF in half, then the younger members wouldn't have to encounter us oldies at all. They could run their own site, do all their own admin ad organise all their own events... ...buy their own server, order and pay for their own merchandise etc...etc.... OR we could remain as ONE group of LIKE MINDED people interested in OLD SKOOL FORDS Jo only gets second prize in the sarcasm stakes btw we were all 'scrotes' once too
