Pye Man Posted June 19, 2007 Report Posted June 19, 2007 Any body seen get Get Carter? The Multi-storey car park in Gateshead, near the end of the film is going to be pulled down soon. To have another Tescos built on it summit. There was a guy in the local rag who was wanting to hold a classic car show there to kind of replicate the era of the film. See the link below to read to the article: http://icnewcastle.icnetwork.co.uk/jour ... _page.html
Osgood Isgood Posted June 19, 2007 Report Posted June 19, 2007 Hope that guy gets the show off the ground (if you'll pardon the pun) would be a proper send off for the place....I heard it had been derelict for years. They took a MK2 there for a photo shoot in Classic Ford a few years back as I recall. Check out the following films as well young fella...all classic films and great for petrol heads; Robbery (Directed by the bloke who went on to do Bullit) Hell Drivers (See if you can spot the young Sid James and even younger Sean Connery) Two lane Blacktop. And the one with the bloke in the white Camaro that he has got to deliver in double quick time, naked chick on a motor bike and blind DJ...what's it pigging called??..Aaaah Alazheimers has kicked in again..not Vanishing point is it..nah.....oh bu**er! And the Gumball rally of course!
Pye Man Posted June 19, 2007 Author Report Posted June 19, 2007 Will try them. I thought the one with the white Camaro in was Vanishing point mind.

Smudger105e Posted June 19, 2007 Report Posted June 19, 2007 An Ozzie (or was it new Zealand?) film called Bad Taste, and it was bad taste, had an Anglia Van wheelchair conversion in it, with a cardboard cut out of the Beatles in the windscreen and the driver standing up looking out of the upper windscreen! It was directed by one Peter Jackson, who went on to do Lord of the Rings! It also had some other OSF's this one's a bit gory for some, so view with caution!! http://www.clipsfromthecrypt.co.uk/badtastetrlr.htm I'm struggling to find more of the Anglia Van, although I seem to remember it appearing in the film quite a bit, as it belongs to one of the film's main characters.

Osgood Isgood Posted June 19, 2007 Report Posted June 19, 2007 White Camaro in Vanishing Point!!!!! Wash your mouth out mate!! No Chevy sh*t....that was one of Mother Mopars finest......a hemi Dodge Challenger! Be fair I couldn't even remember the name of the film at first!!! However I shall take my punishment like a man, and have ordered the taxi! By the way, on films...what about the E-Type hearse conversion in "Harold and Maude"....loved it, but the heathens launched it over a cliff eventually!
Lotus-Eater Posted June 19, 2007 Report Posted June 19, 2007 I'll let you off this time! I remember the E-type hearse too!!
OllieC Posted June 19, 2007 Report Posted June 19, 2007 Get Carter is awesome, Caine drives a Cortina mk2, cant remember the model, a couple of hoods also have a really nice mk2 jag, and some slapper also drives a nice sunbeam tiger Hell drivers is great, has an amazing cast, Stanley Baker, Sean Connery, Sid James, herbert lom, and my favourite patrick mcgoohan as a crazy irish dude, i would not mess with him, theres a great shot of him cracking open a guiness bottle while driving a truck

I remember the article CF did, they took Johns MK2 Cortina did'nt they...think its an estate That was an excellent article..... But it wasnt an estate, it was a baby blue 4 door deluxe. It was at AVO day on Sunday....
105Speed Posted June 19, 2007 Report Posted June 19, 2007 Check out :- http://www.aouq09.dsl.pipex.com/getcarter/ That shows you all the places in the north east that were used in the film.. Perhaps a huge run of MkII Cortinas up there to besiege the car park would be excellent...

To have another Tescos built on it summit. Interesting fact of the day. The restraunt on the top of that car park was built to be used. But the Fire Brigade would not issue it with a fire cert because a fire engine was unable to get to the roof top through the car park
Richierich Posted June 20, 2007 Report Posted June 20, 2007 Get carter, quality film, remeber the breakers yard where they are craning n anglia around?
