Von Loxlee Posted July 10, 2007 Report Posted July 10, 2007 who started this thread? CAN OF WORMS nah only jokin its nice to have a nice massdebate...... imho rat look is cool making a good car ratty on purpose is pointless mint cars are cool feel free to think otherwise
Jeff HPE Motorsport Posted July 10, 2007 Report Posted July 10, 2007 Sorry guys, the ratlook in my opinion is the i can`t be bothered look, as well as, the price of something that is well presented ie paint job, nice polished chrome etc, will be worth alot more than a so called "ratlook" car which ses pile of rubbish, sorry no intention to insult anybody, i suppose each to there own.
Richierich Posted July 10, 2007 Report Posted July 10, 2007 Rat look is ok when its a running project, I was quite happy to run round in my scort when it looked like this because it didn't bother me what comments I got as it would eventually get a respray time and money permitting. Just i'd rather be driving it at the same time as restoring it! Equally its cool if you want to restore it fully before taking it on the road
mossy Posted July 10, 2007 Report Posted July 10, 2007 not really a fan of it tbh, It has to suit the car its on.
Gareth Posted July 10, 2007 Report Posted July 10, 2007 I appreciate the RAT look but I couldn't own one..... I'd miss all of the looks from the ladeez a shiny motor gets
RETRO_AL Posted July 10, 2007 Report Posted July 10, 2007 i like the rat look,i would love a rat look capri with a v8 or micks tina to thrash the fook out of it and not worry about a stonechip or cleaning it but i do also love a nice painted up bling motor ,each to there own
BIGKEV Posted July 10, 2007 Report Posted July 10, 2007 Money money money is what it comes down to with me - I have non so it will look tatty till I can afford to fix her up - I do of course mean Em's Anglebox which will be ready for an MOT soon !! My RS will be the toy all shiny and Macho ( cos I'm driving innit) and I'll smoke about in The Anglebox looking like this but even rougher - I'll take it to the MOT station and they will look at it and think WTF but it will be safe and functional and Legal even though it will look like I therefore like the "RAT" look (RUSTY AND TERMINAL) (least thats what I think it is) but also like a shine ............
lee_capri Posted July 10, 2007 Report Posted July 10, 2007 i my self like a gloss finish, dont mind rat look at all i think its each to the own to what taste they have and the way they like to see their own car,id like to have something that people call a show car but me my-self would rather have more power and just a tidy-motor, out of intrest did the rat look come from the states in the 60s on hot-rods?
FlashCadillac Posted July 10, 2007 Report Posted July 10, 2007 30s hotrods 60s was lowrders/Big caddys and early muscle
lee_capri Posted July 10, 2007 Report Posted July 10, 2007 flash said i wernt sure dint i what a golden age no wonder i no the cars you mean
lee_capri Posted July 10, 2007 Report Posted July 10, 2007 ive been and the leters all look the same its hard youno
Jarrodm Posted July 11, 2007 Report Posted July 11, 2007 Ha ! my internets been down so i couldn't post on here for the past few days..............................Wich isn't a bad thing !!!!! Once again i believe peoples opinions of the rat look is becouse there are very few true rat cars about..............Just unfinished hot rods. And everyone is entitled to opinions, i'm completly homo-soap-tomato-SHOW CAR-aphobic but i still appreciate the effort that goes into these things, In my opinion it's a waste spending years and LOADS of money and LOADS of time on that brown RS2000 in last month classic/retro ford..........Becouse by your own theory's, it's a waste of time becouse it's never going to be used, PROPERLY ! But we all stared and drooled over the pages, wishing it wasn't brown Jarrod
Gareth Posted July 11, 2007 Report Posted July 11, 2007 I think that a car's spot on as long as it gets used. Rat, concourse, street/strip warrior, anything
over_head_cam Posted July 11, 2007 Report Posted July 11, 2007 Not 'rat look' I'd say. I rckon only proper hot rods (USA) can be rat look for real But cool
FlashCadillac Posted July 11, 2007 Report Posted July 11, 2007 its cool.... but its mat black not rat
Stu_B Posted July 11, 2007 Report Posted July 11, 2007 Why can only yanks or vw's be rat look? Rat look harleys have been around for years! My car is rat look, I don't want it to look clean & shiney! It's a rusty ratty old ford - plain & simple!
over_head_cam Posted July 11, 2007 Report Posted July 11, 2007 It's a rusty ratty old ford - plain & simple! and dead cool But IMHO not 'rat look' in the original sense.
FlashCadillac Posted July 11, 2007 Report Posted July 11, 2007 i love the rat look mate.... read above... but its a mk3 cortina painted black with a bit of rust... yeah it looks a bit rat... but its not
Stu_B Posted July 11, 2007 Report Posted July 11, 2007 Ok I'm lazy - I haven't read all 7 pages of this thread - define 'rat' look.
