Fiesta Steve Posted July 17, 2007 Report Posted July 17, 2007 Sreve,do you know of any other quick xflow fiestas out there?bit of a bold statement but i rekon yours could be the fastest No m8, I don't know of any quick x-flow Fiesta's. I know there are much more powerful ones out there but not on the strip. Not that i've seen anyhow. I also know there have been quicker ones in the past, Dave Edmonds for eg., but that was broke up years ago. Maybe I should take the title of the quickest x-flow Fiesta on the strip Unless someone wants to challange me for it
Guest MK1gaz Posted July 17, 2007 Report Posted July 17, 2007 13.8 for me on 175 street tyres. X-flow power (fwd too ) Mighty impressive steve plus it handles so a job well done .
Guest MK1gaz Posted July 17, 2007 Report Posted July 17, 2007 On street tyres 175/50s best was a 13,3. Thats with steel panels/full glass windows/exshaust etc. another cracking time on 175/50's
Guest MK1gaz Posted July 17, 2007 Report Posted July 17, 2007 So it seems that a highly tuned RWD N.A. 4 cylinder escort / cortina / anglia etc without gas running on street tyres with all the heavy bits left on it will be lucky to run faster than a 13. 4 sec pass . Loose all the weight and the same car could go 12.7 and faster depending on how mad you went with the weight saving . Fit hoosier drag slicks and go 0.5 secs quicker at least , so 12.2 or 11's maybe . The turbo cars must get much more time from the slicks than the others due to the huge bhp some have got . For example Kev Warn and terry davis have 450+ bhp and run awesome 10 sec quarters at 130+ mph . Now i'd love to see one of these motors go on street rubber cos they would be snaking over the finish line with the mud flaps on fire if they tried any of those 6000 rpm full boost launches !!!!!!!!! Hoosiers must be worth 1 to 2 secs on a 450 bhp turbo motor but i doubt if the weight saving thing would gain any time for them because their power to weight ratio is already too huge for the tyres . Very interesting anyway ( well i think so )
Pipster007 Posted July 18, 2007 Report Posted July 18, 2007 Well I've not read all the replies, but judging by the title of the post, I believe I was in control of a lot of power. Yes, that's me removing it from it's docking point in TBA.......................How does this compare to your Power outputs : Powerplants Four 170.2kN (38,050lb) RollsRoyce SNECMA Olympus 593 Mk 610 afterburning turbojets. Performance Max cruising speed at 51,300ft Mach 2.04, or 2179km/h (1176kt), typical supersonic cruise speed Mach 2.02. Range with max payload and reserves at Mach 2.02 cruise and climb speed 6230km (3360nm). Range with max fuel, reserves and 8845kg (19,500lb) payload 6580km (3550nm).

Baz. Posted July 18, 2007 Report Posted July 18, 2007 thats the bollox pip, as for old skool i think it was designed in the 60's
Guest MK1gaz Posted July 18, 2007 Report Posted July 18, 2007 Concord would probably run 16's at the pod as it takes a while to get moving off the lights
emu Posted July 18, 2007 Report Posted July 18, 2007 Concord would probably run 16's at the pod as it takes a while to get moving off the lights OOH, That means im as fast as concorde

Admin Vista Posted July 18, 2007 Admin Report Posted July 18, 2007 Concord would probably run 16's at the pod as it takes a while to get moving off the lights Hmmm I think you'll be suprised at how fast a turbine spools up, you've watched the jet car tear the arse of everything at the pod right? Besides if the afterburners didn't give you a fright then the bridge over the top of the start line would certainly get one. Just done some admittedly fairly rudimentary calcs, but at Concordes dry weight plus enough fuel for a quarter mile burn, she'd still have a power to weight ratio of over 5000 horsepower per ton. Is there a pinto out there that can match that then Gaz? I have some 40'000 horsepower from 6 turbines to play with in my daily job, can I come join the party?
Guest MK1gaz Posted July 18, 2007 Report Posted July 18, 2007 Lets get it on then Andy harris verses concord at the pod . Go on the pinto and the pinto would win
Retromotorsport Posted July 18, 2007 Report Posted July 18, 2007 But as we are now being silly buggers ... Andy will have to beat the Concorde to the states and back ... game set and match
Admin Vista Posted July 18, 2007 Admin Report Posted July 18, 2007 Lets get it on then Andy harris verses concord at the pod . Go on the pinto and the pinto would win Yeah ok Given these facts On a fully laden take off run Concorde would accelerate to 75mph in 10 seconds Max take off weight was 185000 Kgs Operating weight empty was less than half that at 78700Kgs How much time do you think she'd shave off that 0-75mph run being less than half her max take off weight, my bet is a lot, making her terminal speed on the 1/4 mile significantly higher.

60ftman Posted July 18, 2007 Report Posted July 18, 2007 High 9's on street rubber in full road trim. New 9 litre engine coming soon though, so that figure should (!) drop!

He'll be fitting gas on it next

mk1super Posted July 18, 2007 Report Posted July 18, 2007 Well we have had concorde so im chucking a bike in lol 10.91s quarter on bridgestone street rubber not too shabby considering its under a litre at 918cc's ?

noz aint cheating Posted July 19, 2007 Author Report Posted July 19, 2007 Obviously you can see that im new to the site because the post count to the left and i have only been to one osf meet but i was wondering what sought power you lot were getting out of these old fords? I have seen Andy Harris's pinto powered mk1 go and was shocked at how quick it actually was, what bhp is that? Who else is running quick ford engines e.g pushrods, pintos, cossie's etc? What sought of power you putting out in your mk2 mate, also what engine? So your Mr Harris, ive heard alot about you and your car in the forums plus ive see it go once, was quite impressed. Well ive got a 2.1 pinto in it at moment, i had it on the rollers about a year ago and it was 211 bhp. Earlier this year i had a full engine rebuild and 75 brake of NOS put on plus a few other little bits. I raced it in may for the first time since the rebuild and ran a 10.91 quarter, to say i was pleased would be an understatemant! I have not yet raced it over here but would be good to see what time i would be putting down.
Guest turbo2 Posted July 19, 2007 Report Posted July 19, 2007 I'm sure bob wiggins is the fastest on treads i've ever seen but i've never seen ron harris , andy harris , jayson elvy etc etc run on street rubber though as these cars might be quicker . I sure that ron harris jnr ran a low 13 on street rubber with all the interior etc still fitted on his tasty red mk1 escort sport a few years back . I think it may well have had a pushrod in it back then as well !!!!!!!! my uncle ronnie run a 13.7 on road tyres and me dad run a 12.2 on road tyres 2 years ago hasnt had road tyres on it since i think steve evans run 12.0 on road tyres aswell in 2.2 powered starlet
