why does everone seem to have a problem with putting aftermarket spoilers on things yet most mk2 escorts and mk3 capris have got the ford ones on

why is it so different putting an aftermarket one on

i know where you are coming from when we're talking about giant plastic ones fastend to the back of a corsa

people seem to think "duck tail" spoilers are ok on mk1s but sugest anything else are it just looks sh*t.... why the fu*k would i want my car to look like a DUCK!

i know its my car and i can do what i want with it.... i just wanted to know why people have such an issue with it.

Bet you wish it was like a duck, water would just run off it and never rust it

Nah, I think an aftermarket spoiler that is non-ford can look good. As you say I dont think an aeroplane wing from Halies would look good.

Personally I think a lip spoiler looks good on 70s fords as its subtle.

Its all down to taste mate. If you like what you like then why alter your image to suit others

because i want a bit of respect from people for building something that looks good

i dont want to be the kid with the max power capri

you older guys are the ones i want to say it looks good but i also want it to be different... but a lot of you seem to be fixed in mind that if it doesnt look like a ford varient of the model then it look sh*t

What can I say Flash...

I know this might sound daft but. Have you seen Overhaulin? The cars look the nuts on there and are respected by a vast age range.

Why not take a litttle bit of inspiration from there but with your own little twist?

Worth a bash

basicly there is not many old fords than can wear new style spoilers, wheels or paintjobs they just dont go

stick will things that have been tryed and tested (ish) and you cant go far wrong

but as you said its your car aslong as your happy

dont build a car for other people, build it for yourself

i know people dont like my paint job and know loads of people who dont like turbos in escorts, i dont care its my car and i love it :ykt::thumbsup:

Well this is a novel idea......if you build something that DOESN'T look like you've driven it through halfrauds then you won't get the piss taken out of you...:mrgreen::lol::lol::lol:

Right then young man  One person out of 6000 is not really a major problem here.

Personally, I like the style of the spoiler that you have chosen in your post in the Capri room ..... I think it is quite tasteful (not sure that's quite the right word but you get the idea).

Like I said to you I like the wheels and the side stripes.

The bonnet stripes are not for me but that doesn't make them wrong and I am not going to take the pi$$ out of you for putting them on if you decide to do so.

The views of the many should outweigh the views of the few - ignore them.

And for those that feel compelled to give a "strong" opinion on someone elses masterpiece, please think before posting as your comments can offend :thumbsup:

They're called 'Spoilers' for a reason, Mark...

TBH, the photoshop of your capri doesn't look that bad. I'm just not a fan of spoilers because they're usually bolted to the roof of a car that needs a big spoiler about as much as I need an anal probe.

I think a number of things

1. It's your car do as you please, as long as you like how it turns out then sod the critics.

2. With a wisely made choice, the right design of spoiler would look really good

3. (This is where I get all patronising so apologies) think twice about asking peoples opinions if you think you're going to be angered by the answers. It's not fair to ask someone what they think, and then berate them if they don't agree with you.
