So whats everyones problem with spoilers??

Opinions were asked, opinions were given. Wouldn't it be a boring world if everyone liked the same thing OR pretended to?

Well said mate , alot of people ask for comments and then start sobbing when the comments are posted . Even worse people say they like stuff when they don't just to be politically correct . I will say to the chap with the capri "if you like it then fit it as it's your car " but don't start moaning if other people don't like it that's all . If you want a respected mk1 capri then only fit proper ford spoilers to it as these will be the ones that look best and everyone likes .

The photoshop of your Capri looks great and keeping it brown is a brave choice too,well done.I like the boot spoiler but think that a small chin spoiler is needed for balance.

Torque Thrusts are ace but a close second would be some 5 spokes from Image as they come in 4 stud Ford.

I like the idea behind the spoiler, but maybe not that particular one. The brackets IMO make it look at bit halfords/motorworld. Also, the ends dont really seem to follow the lines of the car.

 

A similar spoiler that bolted from inside would look better I think. As Jimbob said, maybe a sierra one.

 

Might be worth a trip to the scrapyard with a tape measure....... You might well find something that can easily be adapted or re-modelled slightly to suit your capri, off a car you hadnt even thought about. I think peugeot 405 ones are fairly straight for instance.

Flash I just thought of a spoiler that might look kanny cool. Vista had a thread up and there wasa pic of Hilman Avenger Tiger. The spoiler on them looks cool as F. Dont know how easy/hard they are to get hold of or how cheap they are. Google it or look for the thread. See what you think.

as for not having big spoilers on old cars. dodge daytonas and plymouth roadrunners had 6ft tall spoilers on the back. we all know how cool they are

Don't worry about it mate, if you wanna do it - do it!! Most stuff can be undone if you change your mind at a later date!!

 

I'm planning on making a sunvisor for my cortina like the old zodiacs had - I bet a lot of people won't like that idea!!

I already suggested that to him in his other spoilers thread, don't think he liked it, plus it'd be like rocking horse poo to find....................unless of course the Avenger OC has commisioned replicas?

That's easy to fix, adjust the profile where it mates with the boot lid surface.

Mate i used to have a cortina with a full RGA body kit and a whale tail on the boot, twin electric aerials in the rear wings and 4 bloody great spots on the front

Some things are asteticly good, some just look odd, St pauls cathederal looks good, the Gerkin building thing looks good, but st pauls with the gerkin instead of the dome

At the end of the day i like to see different things done to old cars, feilds full of identical clones is the exact opposite of why I drive an old ford

Do what YOU want, if you decide later it looks a bit gash then hey you just did what most of us have done, (learnt a lesson) if you still like it in a few years time then great.

Between you and me i still hanker after a Mk5 cortina with the full commaner body kit and the 4 square headlight grill

I think I understand what Bortaf is saying. The spoiler is way to new looking for your lovely mk1 it just doesn't look like it belongs. But in saying that the picture you showed of the mk1 special has a very similar spoiler but I personally think it looks odd on that to.

Just my opinion bud. As they are all saying your car your call.

The mk1 is cool whatever you decide.
