Guest MK1gaz Posted September 13, 2007 Report Posted September 13, 2007 If you like them then stick em on anything . An RS is only a normal escort with some £5.99 top plates anyway
surfingturnip Posted September 13, 2007 Report Posted September 13, 2007 as people have said, if it has the go to match the show then ther's no problems mate

They didn't chose a Pinto either but that was coz it weighs the same as a type 49 shell.

Duke3s Posted September 14, 2007 Report Posted September 14, 2007 Proper RS's are getting a bit expensive so if someone puts in the time to make one from a base model then fair play in my book!
FlashCadillac Posted September 14, 2007 Report Posted September 14, 2007 nothing wrong with it... i just dont like RS2000 stripes
borneo Posted September 14, 2007 Report Posted September 14, 2007 It aint cool but each to there own. Making a high spec car look like a base model, sleeper style. That's cool!
bomber1 Posted September 14, 2007 Report Posted September 14, 2007 so will i get away with having a striped n caged mk1 on 1100L badges?

They didn't chose a Pinto either but that was coz it weighs the same as a type 49 shell. London-mexico rally was a P.R. stunt with celebrity drivers etc , they stuck an old x-flow in them because most celebrities woudn't know how to read the gauges on the dash !!!!!!!! . Also this then promoted Fords new hotted up model the "escort mexico" was is only a normal mk1 escort shopper model with a few micky mouse spot welded bits of old tin stuck on it . Also a pinto is only approx 10 kilos heavier than a x-flow which ain't worth worrying about , just chuck out the spare wheel instead
Guest MK1gaz Posted September 14, 2007 Report Posted September 14, 2007 so will i get away with having a striped n caged mk1 on 1100L badges? you could but nobody will believe you

Even though the mexico took most of the first 8 positions. Were the other BMW, Porsche, Mercedes, Rolls Royce, VW drivers not trying to beat the escort "shopper"?
mk2 matt Posted September 14, 2007 Report Posted September 14, 2007 i think its perfectly fine, up to you what you do

allanmex Posted September 14, 2007 Report Posted September 14, 2007 mines a proper mex but running a 2.1. some people would say its not right coz it aint a 1600, at the end of the day its your car so do wot u like. there r sum real nice cars around which are replicas, and fair play to them.
Guest MK1gaz Posted September 15, 2007 Report Posted September 15, 2007 The london-mexico rally was a load of old cobblers , it was just a jolly boys outing to raise at bit of P.R. to sell some motors . All the RS polishers harp on about it but at the end of the day that's all it was . The only difference between an 1100 body and a type 49 is a few bits of spot welded tin which you can buy for a few quid at the shows . The tramp bars do something but the rest don't do much except trap dirt and cause more rust
RETRO_AL Posted September 15, 2007 Report Posted September 15, 2007 Gaz is just jelous cos his aint a rs,he makes excuses up because he drives the poor mans version Would be a differant story if his was a rs
johnny_h Posted September 15, 2007 Report Posted September 15, 2007 I'd like to know where you get cheap tin RS wings? Also the RS has 9 inch rear drums. Not too mention discs and calipers up front. There are tons of differences between a propper RS and a base model. The RS has a tuned engine. The RS has strengthening parts fitted. Anti tramp bars. It has a rev counter and oil pressure guage fitted as standard. Bucket seats. Black headlining. Quarter bumpers. RS Alloys or steels, oh and a chassis plate with the letters A V and O on it. If you owned one you might understand how people feel when you rubbish thier cars. I'm not bothered of course because I know that you cant help your condition but not everyone knows you like I do.
