bronze4door Posted September 20, 2007 Report Posted September 20, 2007 will you be doing them for 4 door mk1's if you do i am very interested
J_mk1 Posted September 20, 2007 Report Posted September 20, 2007 sorry guys but I dont see why some of you are moaning over prices...do you even know the costs involved in something like this. Everyone speculates prices on the costs of doing wings or whatever part but how many know for sure???? Im a fellow fan of escorts & am investing alot of money & time into doing this & if you aint happy with RS WINGS being remanufactured again, dont buy them...Ive gotten alot of mixed reactions but 90% is positive which is good...Im sure you would pay enough for a car if you wanted one???? I know I have & still would... I know everyone is entitled to an opinion but when people are trying to help ressurect cars & put them back on the road & be shot down over it....IMO thats pure shite.... As for the mk2 doors, its not impossible to do & have already checked this out but costs are extremely high & I mean high...Can & hopefully will be done but in a few years time....your right Im NOT a millionaire & wont be..... Capri stuff can be a runner but in time....What parts would you like to see being made for the Capri? Pm me your list please & Ill see what I can do for you.... wheelarches couldnt be to big as the wings have been moulded from genuine unused ford ones Thanks for the support guys.... So whats the availablility going to be like mate? will you be supplying them direct or selling them via a larger company?
X FLOW EDDY Posted September 20, 2007 Report Posted September 20, 2007 As a guide ME PERSONALY i would pay £500 for a pair of remanufactured MK2 doors cus i am sick of looking at rusty heaps of overpriced sh#t . My mk2 escort road/rally project has nearly ground to a stop cus of the lack of decent doors.
johnny_h Posted September 20, 2007 Report Posted September 20, 2007 I read somewhere that this venture cost a quarter of a million if 500 wings were pressed.
mk1esc Posted September 21, 2007 Author Report Posted September 21, 2007 there will be 2 suppliers for the UK market, 1 up north & 1 down south. No point in making 4 dr wings, not enough around to sell them....wouldnt be worth it....IMO...just buy the rs wings to fit the car mk2 doors are out of the question at present....mega bucks to get them done..... ....one day ill get them sorted

I can't see why anyone would have a moan at you for going to all the trouble of making new wings Fair play to you mate, I'd be more than happy to pay £600 for a spanking set of new ones for my escort - just let me know the details The only time I've moaned about prices is ref the greedy "horders" who sell skanky, rusty 35-yr old ones on ebay and just "end the listing early" when they don't get near reaching the £700 they want - because they're petulant, spoilt idiots that don't understand the concept of an "auction" Total repect to you for going to all the trouble to make new ones, I will definitely be getting some
GJUK Posted September 21, 2007 Report Posted September 21, 2007 sorry guys but I dont see why some of you are moaning over prices... Because we are potential customers and its our hard earnt money that would be spent on these. do you even know the costs involved in something like this. Everyone speculates prices on the costs of doing wings or whatever part but how many know for sure???? No, tell us the costs! I can't imagine you would be making less than 200% markup on each wing though. I'm not sure you've grasped the concept of a business. If your demand is high, you will sell the wings. If your price is too high, then your demand will drop and you won't sell as many wings. From my point of view, your price is high! I know everyone is entitled to an opinion but when people are trying to help ressurect cars & put them back on the road & be shot down over it....IMO thats pure s***e.... Hardly. You are telling me that the only reason you did this was to make sure that mk1 escort owners would have a supply of quality new wings forever? Come on, its all about the money mate. Thats what business is about. That’s not a bad thing, you’re clever if you’ve found a gap in the market for something like this and I respect your balls for taking on such a challenge…. But, they are still expensive! Regards Jon
Alan G Posted September 21, 2007 Report Posted September 21, 2007 What would you pay on ebay for a pair of second hand RS wings? Anything up to £500 - £600... and they might not be in the best of condition! These are brand new, personally I can't afford them and my car not being an RS I opted for FG ones to spend the money elsewhere! BUT I know for a fact that there will be a huge market for those for people restoring their RS and who have no price budget! I don't think Aaron is making as much as a profit as you think, of course he's making some bit of money otherwise it would be pointless! People have looked into doing this before and the cost of the press alone is quite high! Fair fooks to ya Aaron!

And i think he has a fairly good grasp of business sense-ever heard of supply & demand Jono? Theres a huge DEMAND for wings-so this kind gent is SUPPLYING them To the people who want them-you dont want them-fine-but slagging the guy off-come on were all enthusiasts-but it doesnt sound like you know the first thing about it?? Maybe you should get something a little less 'Desirable' to play with. If you were to sell your escort-i'm sure you'd like a healthy profit-and if someone drove into your car-ruining both wings-and the insurance covered all repairs-bingo-a source of new wings is there-but oh no he now wont sell me a pair because i said he was an idiot for charging soooo much. In future keep this shit to yourself-it does no good in the long run.

I don't want them no. but slagging the guy off-come on were all enthusiasts-but it doesnt sound like you know the first thing about it?? Where did I slag him off? I've just said they are expensive. £600 is a lot of money for the average chap, is it not? Assuming the average HOUSEHOLD income in the UK of £34,197, based on two working people thats just over £17k per person. So £600 is just under 1/28th of the working average 'mans' income over a year. How can you say £600 is not a lot of money? Based on stats taken from here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programmes/i ... 132575.stm Maybe you should get something a little less 'Desirable' to play with. Don't tell me what I should and should not own . Thats not the point, I think its great this guys supplying these wings. In fact im quite excited to see them being avaliable. All i've been saying all along is they are expensive. In future keep this shit to yourself-it does no good in the long run. Its and open forum, I'll keep posting thanks . Jon
meXEco Posted September 21, 2007 Report Posted September 21, 2007 Where did I slag him off? "I'm not sure you've grasped the concept of a business."?? GJUK Posted September 21, 2007 Report Posted September 21, 2007 Where did I slag him off? "I'm not sure you've grasped the concept of a business."?? Well I hope he didnt take the way you have - it was meant to be an observation! Silverback Posted September 21, 2007 Report Posted September 21, 2007 Come on lads, put the toys back in the pram.... To me £600 is a lot of money, but to be brutally honest I'd still buy these if I was guarenteed that the wings were going to be a perfect fit. Nowt worse that getting an aftermarket wing to find out the fit's total shite.
Pipster007 Posted September 21, 2007 Report Posted September 21, 2007 At the end of the day, if you want a particular item, you'll pay whatever it costs. We've all said I'll pay £xxxx amount, but when you can't find said item for your limit, you'll either not buy it or pay twice your budget. There have been various replies saying they're too much, some saying they're a fair price. I think it's a good business venture by this chap in supplying wings for MK1's. It's almost a case of you're damned if you do or damned if you don't. People whinge that they can't find any good wings, and now there is a useful supply, the fellow is being told the supply is too expensive. I don't own a MK1, but I've always seen pairs of RS wings going for the £600 mark all supplied with additional rust and or a paint scheme.
Cookie Posted September 21, 2007 Report Posted September 21, 2007 I don't think there is any need to critisise people for saying these are to expensive, £600 IS A Shed LOAD OF MONEY!!!!!! SIMPLE AS! any way you dress it up its a lot! And we are in a free country and on a public forum, so anyone can have their own opinion! To be honest the day I'd pay 600 notes for a pair of wings is the day i hang up my tools But from a business perspective then If the man has invested then what would be the point if there was no decent return on it, best of luck to the fella, hope he does well. Although there are plenty of people who won't or simply could'nt afford to spend that sort of money on wings (I blame ebay for the ridiculous prices ) there will always be plenty of people who will and can part with the wonga Anyway, looking foward to seeing the first set fitted and a report on how easy they went on. Good luck with it all
