Rick Posted September 19, 2007 Report Posted September 19, 2007 surely the press would have cost meeeeega bucks to knock them out. how well do they fit. oh... and can you make them in ally
Cookie Posted September 19, 2007 Report Posted September 19, 2007 how well do they fit. Now there's the sixty four thousand dollar question
Admin Vista Posted September 19, 2007 Admin Report Posted September 19, 2007 oh... and can you make them in ally One step ahead of you Rick I've asked that too, the answer? vista im sure they could make them in aluminium, but im sure it would be very expensive & not sure if it would be worth doing. Ill ask & let you know
GJUK Posted September 19, 2007 Report Posted September 19, 2007 Thats a silly amount of money for two bent sheets of metal. I don't care how rare or amazing they are, thats a crazy amount to be selling them for. All due respect for the guy doing these, but £300 a side. OUCH.
bomber1 Posted September 19, 2007 Report Posted September 19, 2007 Thats a silly amount of money for two bent sheets of metal. I don't care how rare or amazing they are, thats a crazy amount to be selling them for. All due respect for the guy doing these, but £300 a side. OUCH. if tey fit well there worth every penney. £900 for a pair of nos wings f### that especa;;y when some ladies love tunnel drives into them f/g for me then the extra pays for going faster
BIGKEV Posted September 19, 2007 Report Posted September 19, 2007 Why so much - whats the cost of manufacture - cant be much - sometimes this classic car hobby gets a bit much - I would'nt pay that unless they were fitted and sprayed!!
meXEco Posted September 19, 2007 Report Posted September 19, 2007 The presses and tooling cost a BOMB-regardless if its for a mk1 wing or a mk2 wing. The presses dont last forever-a few thousand presses maybe-i dont know the actual numbers but after its worn out you need ANOTHER press tooling up. Yes theres money to be made-everyone wants it come on - but to actually put a lot of time and money into something like this takes a lot of balls, and i'm glad theres someone out there prepared to do this-if you dont like the price-dont buy them-but dont slag off the cost as it may not happen again. And if he sells enough he can but another press.
caprifan Posted September 19, 2007 Report Posted September 19, 2007 ...can you do Capri MK3 wings next....the pattern one's are total rubbish as the tooling is shot.....gwaan pretty please
Guest MK1gaz Posted September 19, 2007 Report Posted September 19, 2007 have a look guys http://s176.photobucket.com/albums/w195/mk1esc/wings/ well done mate , top stuff . it's worth paying £600 just so you don't have to look at a mk1's ugly sister , the mk2
jimmyesh Posted September 20, 2007 Report Posted September 20, 2007 Thats a silly amount of money for two bent sheets of metal. I don't care how rare or amazing they are, thats a crazy amount to be selling them for. All due respect for the guy doing these, but £300 a side. OUCH. My sentiments exactly, crazy, silly money BUT lots of us do need them and I'd rather pay that amount for some nice new ones than a week's wages for some skanky, rusty 35yr old ones on "Greed-Bay" Top work getting them made that man!
X FLOW EDDY Posted September 20, 2007 Report Posted September 20, 2007 Any chance of a run of MK2 escort doors Go on go on go on go on
Rick Posted September 20, 2007 Report Posted September 20, 2007 Any chance of a run of MK2 escort doors Go on go on go on go on i dont think hes a millionairre
mk1mexico Posted September 20, 2007 Report Posted September 20, 2007 Is it just me or do the wheelarches look far too big??
X FLOW EDDY Posted September 20, 2007 Report Posted September 20, 2007 i dont think hes a millionairre If he had a go at the doors and mk2 rear quarters he may find he is a millionairre quicker than he thought
mk1esc Posted September 20, 2007 Author Report Posted September 20, 2007 sorry guys but I dont see why some of you are moaning over prices...do you even know the costs involved in something like this. Everyone speculates prices on the costs of doing wings or whatever part but how many know for sure???? Im a fellow fan of escorts & am investing alot of money & time into doing this & if you aint happy with RS WINGS being remanufactured again, dont buy them...Ive gotten alot of mixed reactions but 90% is positive which is good...Im sure you would pay enough for a car if you wanted one???? I know I have & still would... I know everyone is entitled to an opinion but when people are trying to help ressurect cars & put them back on the road & be shot down over it....IMO thats pure s***e.... As for the mk2 doors, its not impossible to do & have already checked this out but costs are extremely high & I mean high...Can & hopefully will be done but in a few years time....your right Im NOT a millionaire & wont be..... Capri stuff can be a runner but in time....What parts would you like to see being made for the Capri? Pm me your list please & Ill see what I can do for you.... wheelarches couldnt be to big as the wings have been moulded from genuine unused ford ones Thanks for the support guys....
Rick Posted September 20, 2007 Report Posted September 20, 2007 good luck to ya mate i wouldnt have had the nerve to invest so heavilly in such a project my stepdad used to be a press maker so i can imagine the costs of one that large
