Transverse front driven 100E

This is the 3rd 100E/Pop that ive seen converted to transverse engine/front wheel drive. So I guess it must be an easy conversion then...? Why would someone go to all the trouble to do this? Moi does not understand

There is little doubt that your car handles exceptionally well, however, if FWD is actually better, why do (did?) touring cars have to carry a weight penalty if they were RWD?
