Mr Sam Posted November 6, 2007 Report Posted November 6, 2007 thought it might be best trying to register the old angle box as im starting to spend a bit of money on it now and would quite like it on the road, well its being built for track but i know parents will go nuts i spend a fortune on it and only able to race it complete form V55/5 available from a DVLA local officecomplete form V765 provide a recent photograph of the vehicle and documentary evidence, such as the original log book, a pre-83 tax disc or MOT certificate, linking it to the original number what happens if i have no log book, no pre '83 disk and no MOT's is there anyway of registering it paperwork wise all i have is a recipt to say i left a deposit on it i do know its Reg though a mate said yeah just send them a letter explain the situation include the reg and its about £20 any light on the matter much apreciated
Mr Sam Posted November 6, 2007 Author Report Posted November 6, 2007 oh it also said something about re-registering a rebuilt car you need the original chassi/monocoupe shell, the suspension front and rear, the axels (both) and engine........a good job i havent space framed it yet with coilovers
Mr Sam Posted November 6, 2007 Author Report Posted November 6, 2007 The following values will be allocated to the major components used: chassis or body shell (body and chassis as one unit - monocoque ie direct replacement from the manufacturer) (original or new) = 5 points suspension = 2 points axles = 2 points transmission = 2 points steering assembly = 2 points engine = 1 point you need 8 points or you have togo for a Q plate think i have 12 though
Jimbob-Squarepants © Posted November 6, 2007 Report Posted November 6, 2007 Sam, do you have a VIN number??? If so, just fill out a V5 application form, enclose your £20 and wait for Postman Pat.
supersport Posted November 6, 2007 Report Posted November 6, 2007 it's £25 now as i had to get a log book for my fiesta
alladdin Posted November 6, 2007 Report Posted November 6, 2007 i bought a shell recently with no tags but had a v5 , no probs sent off v5.... 3 weeks later nothing.... emailed dvla, no record of me applying so now the v5 is lost, its gona be 25 quid this time but i dont know the chassis no ? anyway i filled in the bits i could, sent it off and bingo 2 weeks later i have a new v5 which is odd really ? if they really had no record from me or other party then they would have had to contact him to confirm???????? easy 25 bucks i reckon....
Jubfab Posted November 6, 2007 Report Posted November 6, 2007 isn't the vin number stamped in the o/s strut top ? clean the paint off and should be able to read it. It's only stamped faint but should get somat. If it dosn't work let me have the reg and i'll try and find the vin for you
Mr Sam Posted November 6, 2007 Author Report Posted November 6, 2007 thanks someone did tell me they didnt have VIN tags as such PM sent
ALL4SHOW Posted November 7, 2007 Report Posted November 7, 2007 chassis number, reg & £25 thats all i needed for my escort as it had no logbooks & we didnt know what engine size it was (couldnt be bothered to go & look when iwas filling out the form at daft O'clock )

geoffersmasher Posted November 8, 2007 Report Posted November 8, 2007 found your vin number sent you an email good luck with getting the log book - did you clean the strut top up on the inner wing ? how did you find this out jubfab or do you never reveal your secrets
bortaf Posted November 8, 2007 Report Posted November 8, 2007 i bought a shell recently with no tags but had a v5 , no probs sent off v5.... Usually if you don't have the new owners part and or the old keeper bit aint been sent off they write to the last person listed as owner and the letter says if you have sold the car dont reply of course if they've moved since it was reg'd there'll be no-one there to not answer if you get me
ALL4SHOW Posted November 9, 2007 Report Posted November 9, 2007 dont bother sending a letter as you have nothing to explain as there is a bit on the form that says i was not given the logbook by the last owner so just tick that & send it off with the details you have reg number & chassis number & you will get it back with all the other details thats all i do when i get a car with no logbooks
alladdin Posted November 9, 2007 Report Posted November 9, 2007 you need to fill in a v5 application form from the post office. fill in the bit thats for " bought with no v5" then send it with a 25 bucks chq to dvla.
