I drove private cars and heavy commercial vehicles all over great britain using maps for thirty years. I could more or less go anywhere without having to look at maps in the end. Then someone bought me a Tom Tom go 300 and now I never leave home without it. You cannot get lost, you can go round any traffic jam even if you have no idea where you are. You can avoid heavy traffic, you know where all the speed cameras are and mine even tells me if I am going too fast for the camera coming up! You could wake up after a night on the piss having no idea where you are...press Navigate To followed by Home and off you go SIMPLE. Buy one and you will never be sorry. Do I sound like I like them? NO I feckin LOVE em!!!:thumbsup::thumbsup:

That's a bit harsh

WTF

Sorry to sound a bit harsh and my comment wasn't aimed at anyone, it just that it amazes me that people find the need to be told how to get from one location to another by a an electronic gadget, whatever happened to reading and thinking for yourself?

I've also heard more stories of people going on longer journies because that's what route that their sat nav tells them to take, rather than just taking the quickest and easiest route.

its not just sat navs u now have cars that open/shut doors park them selves turn wipers and lights on and off as needed realy wtf is going on were all going to be robots that need everything doing for us the way were going common sense is going right out the window. imo if u cant park navagate or even open or shut a car door with out the use of an aid u shouldnt be driving end of story. tho this isnt a dig at diabled people that need sensble mods to be able to drive a car. sorry rant over

This is to Nige S. I think you have missed the point here, these devices are tools to assist drivers in their daily driving, they are not a robot dictator telling people what to do! Does your car have abs, power steering, electric windows, servo brakes, a speedometer? All these items are there to help you get on with the business of driving. You wouldnt complain to your abs unit when it stopped you skidding off the road in the wet when some old doris pulled out in front would you? Relax and go with the flow, I did and its the coolest gadget in my truck and if I dont agree with what it suggests I do what I want.
